“Wow as a chef I will say the food is great the guy really knows his food. I saw some people complain about small stuff like the bathroom not being updated its not about a fancy restroom it's all about the food and they do a great job. It took us a while to get food but it is fine dinning so don't expect it to be quick the steaks a thick also so it's not like cooking a buger so please be patient and have a drink and injoy.”

“I had a lovely meal at the bar. I kept it simple and just had the seafood chowder, which was delicious. The bar was fully packed and the restaurant was busy too, but the bartender did a great job keeping up with everyone. The wine list was great, too!”

“There have been multiple Mexican restaurants in this location and this is my favorite so far. Their el-pastor is delicious and the polo asado street tacos are great! Make sure you try the spicy sour cream sauce on whatever you order.P.S. try the flan !”

“Stopped by this local favorite for lunch today...Roast Beef (aka Roast Beast) was spot on and solid, the French onion soup was a warm welcome after a long rainy week. I also left with a tub of the Kansas City BBQ sauce to augment some brined and smoked baby back ribs at home for dinner...also well worth the money at a price point equivalent to grocery store gourmet BBQ sauce. As the grandson of a professional meat cutter (40+ years), that cures meats on a hobby/craft level, and prepares about 1500 lbs of meat and over 100 gallons of BBQ sauce for public consumption every year, The Ham Stand is 100% what I'd expect and a lot of extra nuances that are well worth the money for local craftsmanship and attention to detail.”

“This is my favorite restaurant in Nevada City. The food is really excellent, the atmosphere, feels like a special occasion, every time, and the staff and owner are the *best part*. We feel very nurtured, and taken care of when we go to this café. Recommending everything five stars. The food is really excellent!Vegetarian options: I get the beyond burger, blue burger that has sautéed onions, blue cheese, brioche bun, and comes with either an amazing salad or fries. It taste like a real burger 100% and is amazing. That salads are really really excellent as well.”

“This cozy space is inclusive and has the most beautifully presented food. I got the Avocado toast on gluten-free bread and it was awesome! “It's not like Szabo needs another 5* review, but I'm going to give one anyway! We stopped in for a glass of wine while we were waiting for our take out dinner to be ready elsewhere in town and had an absolutely lovely time meeting Alex and other patrons. The pupper was welcome and we were very sad to leave after only a short visit but our dinner and the pup's dinner called. Will definitely return!”

Parking can be hard to find at times when its super busy but never more then a couple minute walk.. my family has been coming here for over 20 years. It's a must try!P.S. you don't have to make a trip to the ocean to get great fish and chips!!!”

“I was dying for a steak while working up in Grass Valley. I asked Siri to find me the closest steakhouse, and The Willow was definitely the closest. I read a few of the reviews and I would agree with many of them. First of all, Tyler appears to run a tight ship and customer service is A plus! On Friday and Saturday night they serve ribeye but the cuts were 14 ounces and I was looking for 6 to 8 ounces, so I went with the New York. I asked for medium rare on the medium side. The waitress commented I fully understand that and delivered a perfectly cooked and seasoned New York strip. Salad, barbecued beans and garlic bread come standard with the steak and that's how I placed my order. They make several of their salad dressings in the house and I chose the blue cheese. It was very good but with the amount of iceberg lettuce that was "the salad", I would've liked a little more. The barbecue beans were OK, nothing special. One of the remarkable things I experienced, was when asking about a couple of their Zinfandel's that were on the menu compared to the Rodney Strong Cabernet, Tyler brought me three tastings of all three wines to make a choice. I find this to be exceptional service typically not found at some of the highest end steakhouses. Bottom line is if you're in the Grass Valley, Nevada City area and would like a reasonably priced steak at one of the local restaurants with a wonderful history, I certainly would direct you to The Willo!
