“This place makes the best ice cream in the world. My daughter used to work there so we would get to taste what she brought home. Amazing flavors you can't find anywhere else. What they don't make upstairs, they purchase locally. There's vegan and sorbet available as well. The sorbet is our favorite. The in house waffle cones perfume the building.“
“Seriously delicious juices and magic mylks. WOMAN OWNED and made locally with local ingredients. Really cool selection of fancy mushrooms too.... one of the best matcha drinks ever :)if you want your juice stale and full of sugar - stick to your corporate overlords“
“Go through the magic door at the back of SPD and you will find the Sugar Shack. EXCELLENT baked goods (try the turnovers!) and generous sandwiches of all types, especially on croissants! A gem of a small place to sit quietly and enjoy your latte. Love this place.“
“Lovely service and great food. My friend got a tomato basil soup with pesto bread that came with sprouts & said it was delicious. I got the Asian chicken salad and it did not disappoint. A plus is that the coffee is also worthwhile of going out of your way :)“
“This is my first time here and I'm impressed! The lady behind the counter is really nice and had my order ready really quick even if she was on her own and had several other customers. My bagel (sorry I was hungry and forgot to take a picture before I bit into it) is crispy and delicious. My chai is foamed to perfection and the ambiance is so cozy and welcoming. Would definitely come back!“
“Rainy morning in Nevada City. We were greeted promptly upon arrival. We stayed nearby and I was looking for a strong cup of coffee and a bite to eat before getting back on the road. We stumbled upon Cosmic Roots. I was bummed because the local spots across the street from where we stayed were closed on the weekends. I looked at my breakfast sandwiches and hot sandwich options since they were a deli. I was going back and forth between the Early Riser and The Boss lady. I'm so glad I ordered this sandwich, it was so good. Pastrami to me is usually salty, but not this one. The pickles and sauce they offered balance everything perfectly with my toasted sourdough bread. I ordered a medium SF oatmilk latte, a bag of chips and muffins for my kiddos. They aren't much for breakfast, but will eat a pastry. This quaint deli offered an old coffee shop/poetry club vibe. A lounging area was provided and beer served along with other household options for purchase. I'll definitely stop in again if I'm nearby or passingby.“
“This eatery is more than a bakery. We found it on yelp today and tried it for the first time. We ordered the chicken enchalada and fish taco meals. Both were very delicious and serving size was huge. I wanted to keep eating even when my belly was full! It comes with a basket of crispy tortilla chips, 1 red and 1 green sauce, a salad, Mexican rice, refried beans that stayed nice and hot in a perfect way thru the meal. The place is so cute, very clean and welcoming. Service is great and friendly. I wish we had discovered Cafe Rico sooner. It is now our new go-to for a wonderful and delicious Mexican meal. We highly recommend it. You will leave well fed and happy, happy!“
“Cafe Rico is a HIDDEN gem in Grass Valley. Stella's eardrum hospitality and authentic Salvadorian food create a brilliant meal. I look forward to shrimp burritos and papusas as tasty as my fish tacos! Try this cafe for a delightful meal.“
“Went in for the 1st time on a stormy Saturday. Restaurant was mostly empty. Ordered the cheeseburger they had on special and it was delicious. 1/2 lb Patty, thousand island style sauce was great I went with everything but the onions. Service was prompt and friendly. Price for burger and a very generous amount of homemade fries was about $15. Well worth the visit. I will return and try out the Brats. ? Definitely a sports bar vibe with multiple TV's. Might be a good place to watch the 49ers whip the Chiefs in Super Bowl LVIII?“
“My buddy and I woke up hungry and ready for coffee, so we looked up good coffee places in the Grass Valley area and this place popped up! What a great place for a fun and unique coffee shop in this area! Food and drinks were great and the staff was very friendly. They definitely had their regulars who came in! Will definitely be back and definitely will recommend to anyone!“
“Probably the best coffee shop in the area. Really good coffee roasted on site, available for both a beverage there and to take away. Ambiance is a lot of reused and repaired furniture, which gives the place a ton of character beyond what you get at the corporates.“
“This bakery is gorgeous. The cakes are stunning, and the food is a little spendy but really good. We get our family birthday cakes here every year, and they make our wedding cake-I wish I had photos, they were works of art! The place is really well decorated and the customer service is fantastic-they’ve gone out of their way more than once to cater to our specific needs. Please spend all of your money here so they never, ever close!Parking: It’s on Mill St in the old bank building, so hopefully you can get a spot in the parking lot directly below or above, but if you get a fancy cake, there’s no pulling up to the curb-you must hike it back precariously“
“Loved our visit here earlier this year. We are from out of town and are so happy we came across this spot. Delicious drinks (my London fog latte was wonderful) and very tasty scones! It was around my birthday and the owner made me feel right at home! Will be back for sure on our next visit.“
