“It is a small casual restaurant. People are friendly. It isn’t super fancy but has a lot of character. Staff is friendly. It is vegan/vegetarian friendly, but plenty of options for those who aren’t. Come here with an open mind and you will be happy. If you are looking for upscale dining look elsewhere.”

This winery proudly advertises itself as the oldest operating winery in Nevada City, with wines crafted onsite using grapes sourced from local private vineyards. They also host a variety of events throughout the week, which are worth exploring.

The tasting room is inviting and thoughtfully designed, offering multiple seating areas where guests can relax and enjoy their wine. There is also a charming outdoor patio that adds to the overall experience.

As for the wine, I was pleasantly surprised. While I don’t typically favor red wines, I found their selection to be well-balanced and enjoyable, changing my expectations in the best way. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive, making the experience even more enjoyable.

“I have always liked the Papa Murphy's pizza. I usually get a family sized thin crust with just pepperoni. I get 2 marinara sauces, then I go to my local market to get some linguica sausage and other fresh veggie ingredients, grate some pecorino romano cheese, then put it altogether and bake it. It makes an excellent pizza and I don't have to pay $35. Papa Murphy's probably isn't happy hearing that I just use their pizza as a base for an even better pizza. But really, that is a compliment to their dough and sauce.”
