“I love NC Winery! I love the relaxing atmosphere that is dog friendly. They also have a great outdoor patio. And the wine is good; so is the charcuterie plate. Or you can bring your own food. I order from Brewhaus across the street. It's my Thursday night date night with friends.“

“Stumbled upon the winery with my girlfriend after seeing some road signs following a Yuba River hike.Such a charming property and proprietor. Want to impress your girlfriend (especially if she likes Italian wines)? Take her here for the tasting. Buy a case while you’re at it! I did.“

“What a fun experience!! If you love wine, especially Italian varietals, this is the place. Mark is quite a character and very knowledgeable in his craft. The wines are amazing and the view of some of his vineyards while you enjoy them is beautiful. Off the beaten path but worth it.“

“What a fantastic afternoon we had at Bob's. If you like good wine and want to meet someone with a passion for wine? Then definitely go to this winery! Bob is awesome!! And the wines, which are definitely the best in Europe and compete with the best in Italy. Whatever wine you taste, it's all balanced and delicious. You can taste the craftsmanship and passion for wine. We brought some bottles for our road trip! Thank you Bob for your great hospitality and sharing your stories with us. We loved it!“

Sierra Starr Vineyard & Winery Winery • $$
124 W Main St, Grass Valley

“Had a lovely wine tasting at Sierra Starr, the experience was quite fun and was everything we would want from a tasting. The location is in the heart of downtown Grass Valley and the storefront is very welcoming. The shop has a wonderfully ornate carved wooden door, and the interior has a rustic brick and wood vibe. There is not a lot of seating inside, but there were only a few people there when we stopped in, so it was quite and uncrowded. The woman working was very nice; she greeted us promptly and we picked a seat. She offered us menus and walked us through what wines they had available. She was very attentive and checked in regularly, offering suggestions or answering questions we had.We tried a selection of their wines, all of which were enjoyable. Ended up leaving with a couple of bottles, and then were able to wander downtown and check out the shops. Ultimately, even I you only vaguely like wine, Sierra Starr likely has at least one wine you would enjoy!“

“This is a wonderful winery and tasting room! These are not your normal NorCal wines.Rob has used some amazing Italian grapes to create blends and varietals you won’t find anywhere else.My group did not have one taste we didn’t love! Totally inexpensive tasting fee, but that won’t matter because you are sure to buy a bottle or 6!“
