Bistro 221 was such a joy to read the menu, the quality of the food was on par with their pricing. But then the employees were in jeans, no uniforms and no cohesiveness. The carpet should be taken out and wood floors add to match their building and then the menu and atmosphere would all match and we would have definitely been glad to send $40 per person.. food was good. We might be back

I ordered the same item as my companion but my portion was about half the size. The chicken had way too much breading on it as well. The wine serving could have been a bare 5 ounces, but the glass was so small I couldn't tell. The space was so cold it was hard to get comfortable. The sauce had a good flavor and the restaurant was willing to substitute vegetables for the pasta. Overall, it was not a good value for what was served.

Me and my wife stopped in here the food was absolutely delicious tastes like it has clean ingredients. Everything's fresh and appears to be homemade. It was a little busy and there was only one server but she did really good job of getting everyone taken care of. I highly recommend this place we will be back next time we're in Nevada City.

The food is delicious, my husband ordered a hamburger and it was great, I ordered a toast and it exceeded my expectations. I give it 4 stars because the service was super slow and two other families who arrived after us were served first. We were about to pay for the drinks and leave because we waited more than 30 minutes.
The waitress apologized and justified herself by saying that the other families had children and it is complicated. But we were going with my 5-month-old baby and we arrived first. I think there is no justification for them leaving us last.
