This place is a sweet gem of Nevada City. Classic breakfast diner, with plenty of veggie options. They run a tight ship on a busy Sunday morning and have lovely staff. I love sitting at the counter on my own and enjoying the atmosphere.

We had a good breakfast here! The servers were extremely kind and accommodating, which made the experience very pleasant. The food itself was decent, though not quite as hearty as we expected — most meals didn’t include a meat protein unless you added it on, and the cheese omelet was literally just cheese and egg, more like a flat dish. That said, the service was wonderful and everything we ordered tasted fine overall. A nice spot for a simple breakfast with great hospitality.

I’ve been getting breakfast here for 10 years. It really is the classic diner experience with coffee refills, milkshakes, and great breakfasts. My go to is the eggs benedict. The waitstaff is really friendly and have the best tourist info. They will tell you about hikes, how to park at the river, and local happenings. Definitely eat here if you are staying at the National hotel across the street. Some things that make the classic cafe extra special are Kendra the talented singer songwriter waitress, homemade cookies, and the beautiful mural of Nevada City on the wall. Oh and the Hallmark movie The Christmas Card was filmed here!

My classic CA crape was tiny and barely any avocado (overpriced!). And $4.50 for a poured plain cup of coffee, not even at Starbuck$! - Everything else was great! :)

They have on all menus egg “surcharge pricing?!?! “ The egg shortage is LONG over people so stop trying to screw your customers. Just raise prices to your already inflated pricing. instead trying to BS your customers for a BS reason.

Food was okay but portions very small and nowhere worth the price Wife and I ordered toast and we each got one small slice.

You may rely on tourism but your local clientele is what matters most.

Will never be back.

Took my partner here today for father's day breakfast for the first time and we were absolutely blown away. The food is incredible and perfect portion. We ordered the classic eggs benedict, country fried steak and eggs and shared a fruit crepe. We are always on the search for the best eggs bennie and country fried steak and this place tops the charts. The gravy is to die for and even has a little kick to it.

The food takes a bit to come out, but it is definitely worth the wait. The atmosphere is homey and casual and there is an open kitchen concept to watch the food cook. The service is so friendly and welcoming. Definitely recommended and we will be back!

This cafe is quintessential California- just as you imagine before visiting . Kendra, the manager, exudes a genuine warmth and you feel right at home. If you are a stranger in town, you are not one here. Regulars pop in right after the closed sign flips to open in the morning. Kendra spoke to all customers, providing local information to newcomers. Clean tables, colorful murals, and a fresh cup of coffee greets you. Traditional folk and indie grooves complete the pleasant sit down experience. You can see the historic National Hotel across the street and available parking is ample on both sides of the street. Food was made fresh and portions were ample.
