The food, service and ambiance was excellent. My wife and I came for breakfast, despite our trepidations due to Yelp reviews over the past year or so. I had a veggie omelette with country potatoes with sourdough toast. I have similar breakfasts at numerous restaurants, and feel the NC Cafe is in the top 1%. The service was very attentive and friendly, and heard other encounters with nearby people. The cook was familiar to me from other visits over the years and I paused to compliment his cooking as I was on my way to the clean and accessible restroom. I will finish by saying that I look forward to coming back during my next visit to Nevada City. Five Stars!

Any eaterie with a filthy, smelly restroom is an instant no go for me. YUCK! Went once was utterly disgusted. Will NEVER dine there again. 10/10 would NOT recommend this place! I don't care if they were featured in a Hallmark movie, they are gross. Kitchen needs a deep clean too.

It was the Saturday before Christmas 2023 and my father decided to take me to breakfast in Nevada City, California in-order pick up a few last minute gifts items for mom. Nevada City Classic Cafe is a charming local cafe which I enjoyed for their service, breakfast sections and local diner ambiance with reasonable prices. Locals and visitors alike were generous in providing information regarding the establishment and Nevada City itself. Yes, Hallmark's movie the "Christmas Card" was filmed at the cafe. Like many visitors I too took a few snapshots of the infamous mural. Meanwhile, during my visit the servers were attentive and ensured everything was just right in the way the food was prepared and coffee remained hot. I enjoyed a bacon breakfast burrito with a side of potatoes and decaffeinated coffee with cream to drink. Portions were large and I only ate half of the breakfast burrito. I look the remaining portion to go. Complements to the chiefs given the food was delicious and filling . I am already looking forward to my next visit give the place is known to moviegoers for their "crispy curly fries. The only downside of the establishment is the need to update their restroom. Otherwise this is an excellent place to observe others, enjoy a delightful conversation, and have an enjoyable meal as a solo individual and/or with family and friends. However if you are in search for something upscale this is not your place. This appears to serve as a local diner with local charm. When you stop in make sure to say "Hi" to Auggie.

I've been eating here 15 years and will not be back. The owner has been away and quality is gone. Service quality in the toilet. Care for creating beautiful dishes, gone. They'll be closed on 3-months because the staff doesn't care, and their service is driving away customers because they are unsupervised and know they won't have jobs in a few month. Classic Idiots.

2 stars because it used to be our favorite go to breakfast. I have always had the French toast here and it was perfect every time. Haven't been here in a while and not sure what changed but our food was terrible. I got served French toast burnt and hidden with powdered sugar. They re-made it but it was soggy. Pancakes and potatos on my husbands plate were a burnt too. It's too bad because we used to love this place....

Me and a friend went up there on the weekend to the Nevada City craft show and it was crowded, so we decided to stop and eat first, and this Cafe is what we chose, regrettably. We walk in and there was only one table left, so we asked the young lady at the register if we could sit there, and she said "Yes, but if a bigger crowd comes in we will have to move". Mind you it was the only table left and if we would have already had our food served to us were they going to make us get up in the middle of eating? The waitress brings water and an iced tea that I ordered to the table, we took a taste and it was horrible tasting, like their pipes were dirty or wherever they got the water from. We ordered our food and it was pretty bad! The bread on the BLT was hard as a rock, and the next day my friend got sick of food poisoning! Another thing that was weird is that you have to walk through the kitchen to get to the bathroom. Needless to say we will never be going back to that cafe!

Service was good but food had no flavor and left both me & my husband feeling nauseous.
I really do like this place, but it was a bit off today. Still, the main reason for my review was the crepe. It was a Popeye crepe but it was hard to find the spinach. Also, at that price point it would be nice to have a small side of salad or potatoes. Left me a little dissatisfied.

A lovely little dinner, serving good comfort food. Our waitress was great, especially since it was just her and a cook there. This place is a must stop and enjoy a meal at. Also featured in Hallmark’s movie The Christmas Card. The curly fries are crispy and delicious.

Extremely cold inside as well as the food was, didn't care for the gravy they used in the biscuits and gravy and the biscuit seemed like it was yesterday leftover.not to mention $4.00 for a cup of cold coffee ?

I really can't write a review about the food because we sat for at least15 minutes while the waitress sat and visited with the few people in the cafe and completely ignored us. We had to just walk out. The menu looked pretty good.
