Great place on the Main Street in adorable downtown Nevada City. Solid flat white and delicious avocado toast — I’m a sucker for toasts with fresh green toppings. Quiet spot for breakfast and filled with laptops and quiet conversation for work hours. Also fun and interesting art all around.

The place is fine but their drip coffee was absolutely rancid. Usually I wouldn't leave a review for that but both my wife and I couldn't drink it.

It's also expensive. Too expensive despite the vibes and the pastries baked on site.

I recently visited Communal Cafe in Nevada City, and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience! The highlight of my visit was their Butterfly Pea Earth Latte—a delightful and vibrant drink that’s as stunning to look at as it is to taste. It was so good, I couldn’t resist having three of them! Whether you're a coffee lover or just looking for something special, this place is a must-try.

Came into the place with high hopes. Ordered an earth matcha and a potatoes bowl. Earth matcha came out in 5 minutes, I enjoyed it but there were chunks of blue powder in it that weren't blended. Onto the real issue-- the food took exactly 51 minutes to come out. When I ordered, the cashier stated it was a busy day and food would come out in 20 minutes at the most, I was fine with waiting that long. After a lot of asking, we had a cashier talk to the kitchen. Only then was it found out there was only one person working in the kitchen, so there was a lack of communication. After waiting for nearly an hour, the food came out. It wasn't bad, but half the potatoes were raw-- you can't call something a potato bowl and mess up the namesake. I love the aesthetic of the place and I liked the drinks. I would recommend coming in to buy drinks but not food.

This is such a great place to hang out with friends, have informal meetings, and also get serious work done. Excellent food and pastries, and great staff. Highly recommended!

$25 for a coffee and a breakfast sandwich. Food took 28 minutes to come out. The blonde girl in her 20's who dropped off the sandwich looked like she wanted to slash my throat for breathing air. Like others have shared, food was super wet. Soaked in butter and grease and was room temperature or colder. Large space, but no comfortable seating or ADA seating.

My roommate really enjoyed his paleo bowl breakfast. I personally am not vegetarian nor vegan and soon discovered my carnivorous likes were not suitable for this popular spot. Nonetheless they have a large happy clientele and local vibe. It is hip no doubt but the elephant in the room barks.

Yes, I counted 14 dogs (inside) during our visit. I felt like I was eating in a bark park. I did appreciate that a staff member asked a barking dog owner to leave. But during breakfast I was surrounded by dogs licking their junk, growling, or jumping and anxious to meet a new playmate. I can let the vegan targeted menu go for this brief visit to Nevada City, but this "bring your dog everywhere" deal is a turn off. Sorry folks, your dog isn't that cool, and I like dogs.

If you love dogs in vegetarian based restaurants this spot is your go-to place for coffee and pretty good (french toast here) breakfast. If you'd rather eat without the dog butthole views, find another spot that supports local health codes.

Vegetarian options: Paleo breakfast bowl was my boyfriends delight. Not sure French toast counts as vegetarian but it was edible but nothing to rave about.

Interesting place, great service where you order at the counter and they bring it to you. Everyone sits at large group tables so don’t go if you’re looking for an intimate private place! Food is farm-to-table style. Unique but tasty.

Very nice place. They use loud equipment which may ruin or enhance the atmosphere depending to your preferences. Too loud for me

Great place in Nevada City. Visited August 18th..see receipt.

Great addition to downtown Nevada City on Broad Street.

I like that they open at 7am since after a nice hike I really wanted a good coffee and toast.

I got the avocado toast..so full of avocado and sprouts on sourdough bread. It is a big portion and could only eat half ( other half for later). BEST I have had! I also got lavender coffee... Anything with lavender is one of my favs!

The place is pretty large and inviting. They also have good teas and other items to eat. They sell beans..honey..and merch.

They were already getting busy in the morning but my food came out pretty quickly while I was enjoying my lavender infused coffee.

Great corner location..Great addition to Nevada City! Vibe is cool and relaxing!

Btw..beer also available (see pic).

Best cafe/coffee shop in town. The coffee and food is top notch with seasonal drinks and food with ingredients from local farms. The cafe is super spacious with plenty of room to work or meet with others. Also, they have great wifi. It’s actually the best wifi I’ve experienced at a cafe, and is a big reason I keep coming back and supported as I work remotely.

Nice relaxed Nevada City ambience. Solid cappuccino ❤️ and the cardamom donut was tasty.
Don't go if you need to be somewhere on a busy morning. THE SLOWEST line just to order I've experienced in a long time... Absolutely glacial. (And I'm ok with waiting for quality / used to the pace in places like Europe) Sorry I just had to deduct a star for that - maybe everyone was ordering multiple drinks and I could just have been there on an off day ?‍♂️. Flip side is the barristas worked quickly through orders.
