We went over Christmas holiday with family.
Great location.
Food outstanding! Perfectly cooked ribeye steak, lamb, and potatoes, fantastic appetizers. Beet salad, carpaccio!
Great wine, great beer.
-1 star for the male bartender with pony tail loudly slam dunking every empty bottle into the trash can. Its an expensive dinner, not the end of a Nirvana concert.

We enjoyed our New Year’s Eve dinner here and it was delicious. We were fortunate to be served by the same person we had the last time we were there and she is awesome. The food, the service and the environment is top notch. Look forward to our next visit.

The first time I went here, everything was immaculate (except for a steak that came out super salty.. but that got fixed pronto). THe vibes, the cocktails, the service and the food was really really good. I swear I had the best anchovies of my life here... i know know, that sounds like an odd thing to pick out of the line up, but I swear the caesar was like, off the charts because of those anchovies... I went back again a year or two later and it felt just slightly less magical.. service was a bit off that night, food was a little underwhelming, and we were tucked in a TINY two-top right under the air conditioning vent, so it was a little... uncomfortable. But overally, I dig the place and I'll likely go back next time I'm venturing up to the Yuba....

Horrible experience! I ended up providing water and drinks to my table we had 2 birthdays going on. Limited menu and terrible food. We walked out and will never return. Over priced with horrible service and food!

Really cool place in a really cool little California town. Live music, the nite we were there, they had a fabulous jazz band. They also have a beautiful bar, cozy seating and rooms upstairs.

What a treat. Gorgeously remodeled hotel, restaurant, and bar from the late 1800's. Great food, wine, and staff. I Will go back again to soak up the history

The mushroom pappardelle absolutely sings. Transcendent! And what a finely wallpapered environment for a religious fungi experience. 10/10

We spent a Friday evening having steaks and cocktails. The ambiance was upscale and the waitress was fantastic.( A ribeye was 70 bucks, so it is on the expensive side)

I was so impressed I went two nights in a row—Tuesday and Wednesday—and each visit felt like discovering Nevada City’s finest dining experience.
Tuesday night came with an unexpected treat: a jazz musician at the piano, filling the room with warm, soulful notes that wrapped perfectly around the meal. But honestly, both nights were exceptional. The hostess and wait staff were attentive, gracious, and consistently above and beyond, the kind of service that makes you feel genuinely welcomed rather than simply served.
And that roasted chicken… unforgettable. It was easily the most flavorful, expertly prepared roasted chicken I’ve ever tasted. Moist, tender meat. Perfectly crisped skin. A seasoning blend that made every bite sing. The portion was enormous—half a chicken—resting over beautifully balanced greens and paired with some of the best house-made pickles I’ve had anywhere.
I treated myself to a cocktail and dessert, too. The olive-oil cake was a dream: impossibly moist, subtly fragrant, and finished with a light syrup that added the perfect touch of sweetness. Every element of the plate felt intentional and artfully crafted.
After dining up and down all of Highway 49, Lola in Nevada City was the best culinary experience of my entire adventure. I would genuinely drive 300 miles just to savor it again. It was that good!!!

My husband and I ate here twice during our weekend getaway stay at the National Exchange Hotel (where Lola is housed). We had a delicious dinner and even better brunch the next day.
Menus are solid and tasty. The best thing we had for dinner was actually the brussels sprouts appetizer/side, which were clearly very fresh and cooked perfectly without being charred or overwhelmed with seasoning. The ribeye was decent, but I think the produce is really the star here.
Both brunch and dinner prices were more than reasonable. My husband pointed out that IHOP costs more for breakfast than a fancy place like this.
The dining room has a wonderful retro glam feel without being stuffy. The night we had dinner, a band was playing on the bar side, which provided for nice ambience without it being too loud on the dinner room side.
Service is attentive and warm, which really added to the experience.
We would love to come back next time we are in Nevada City.
