The service was excellent.
The food is regularly well prepared and flavorful, employees provides good service. I really like how clean it is and character. Will visit here again.
Wonderful experience! We had a gift card, so for my husband's birthday, we decided to get fancy take-out from New Moon. Delicious food, excellent service, I highly recommend this place if you want to splurge on a nice dinner. I really appreciate how health conscious they are during the pandemic, especially in a town where that isn't the norm, as someone who's being extra cautious, I felt very safe getting food from this establishment. I called multiple times the day before to place our order, and the man who answered the phone was incredibly kind, patient, gracious, and helpful. The food was amazing, my steak was so tender and the salad was the perfect blend of flavors and textures. I also really appreciated that they package the food in oven safe containers with re-heating instructions for a high-end take out experience. Its hard to pull off high end take out food, but New Moon does it really well. Thank you!
Fantastic chef and great staff. The food is always delicious. I wish they were returned to offering free olives for the table. I have not gone here during the pandemic or many places. When I would drive through Nevada City Winery too many people without masks. Therefore I don't even get out of my car in that town. I feel badly, because I do want to support local businesses. If I drive through town and I see more people wearing masks, I might Dine Outdoors. I highly recommend this restaurant. It is well worth it. You always know it is money well spent and locally-sourced delicious food will be brought to your table buy very knowledgeable and friendly staff.
Just ate the best crab cake I've ever tasted and best meal I've had since the start of the pandemic. Don't know how they pull it off as takeout, but I'm sure glad they do.
We popped in for a late lunch to begin our Nevada City weekend, and so happy we picked this spot! Amazing half-bottle selection to go with lunch, which included yam & sausage soup plus one of the best turkey sandwiches I’ve ever noshed on. Do yourself a favor and go visit!
The food and service were great! The atmosphere was a bit noisy but we could converse easily. We needed three days to make a reservation.
Our fresh salads sparkled and the Pt. Reyes Blue on mine was perfect. Robin rarely gets past the duck and tonight was no different. I had the scallops special and was very pleased. They were seared perfectly and sliced like butter, accompanied by perfectly cooked veggies and rice. We ordered a cakelette with an ice cream scoop and what an unusual scoop---Black Sesame Seed Ice Cream. WOW!
One of my favorite places to eat in nevada city , always a delightful experience
Buzz the owner is a cut above and the drink selection is amazing.

The food was excellent as was the service. I had a Steelhead Trout and it was delicious. Good atmosphere , quite and a central location in Nevada City.
I'm a sausage, eggs, hash browns and toast kind of guy. They tried to make it more than it needed. Apple Sage sausage was not that good. There was more stuff in the hash browns than there was potatoes.
This is our local celebratory café. We had delicious ravioli, cauliflower soup, and braised brussell sprouts. The soup was a bit heavy on the chicken broth, rather than vegetable broth. I had an interesting wine from the Cinsault grape. As usual, the service couldn't have been better. For a Thursday night, we were able to walk in and get a table, though it is safer to make a reservation.
New Moon Cafe was a delightful surprise! We were in Nevada City for the night and the restaurant was recommended to us. We walked to it from The Deer Creek Inn, sat out on the porch and enjoyed a wonderful dining experience! We had a French waiter who enriched our evening as well. We will definitely dine there again when we are next in that area! *peter & lynn
Sound bounces between the hard walls amplifying the diner's conversation until talking is either painful or impossible. As to food, the salads are merely adequate, the entrees nothing special. The chicken is quite atrocious where the chanterelles exist as a figment amidst overcooked gravy. To top it off, pay high dollar for mediocre. I would rate it only one star but the desserts rescued an otherwise inedible meal.
