The food was pretty good, but the atmosphere left a lot to be desired. The lighting consisted mostly of overhead ceiling fans with a few scattered red bulbs, which created a harsh and uninviting feel. While the plants were a nice touch, the bright white walls and lack of wall decor made the space feel more like a cafeteria than a restaurant. For me, interior design plays a big role in the overall dining experience, and despite the decent food, the vibe was off enough that I probably wouldn’t return.
Prices also felt high for what was offered. Most rolls were around $20, and the burger was $27. On the positive side, we especially enjoyed the pork belly appetizer and the Osaka roll.

We ordered pokebowls, the portions were tiny and the flavor is bland. The bowls didn't even include rice. Save your money this place is overpriced and not good.

We are foodies and we go out 2-3 times per week. We have lived in some of the most food fabulous major cities, Los Angeles, San Francisco, East Bay and smaller cities like Newport Beach, Pasadena etc. We know good food and are willing to pay for it. We have high standards for how we spend our time and hard earned money, especially now with the cost of everything out of control.
Sushi is a special treat for us. We used to build it into our dine out routine once per month, but after eating at Nourish, we try to go a once a week. We used to frequent Sushi in the Raw, but we think Nourish is more well rounded, including a couple yummy fried rolls...Jalapeño Popper roll shout out! Fried doesn't have to mean junk food. Even Nourish's fried rolls taste healthy. This is by far the freshest fish we have experienced in all of our Sushi adventures. Even trendy Koi or Katsuya in Los Angeles where all the celebs go. Nourish is better.
This is a family owned restaurant with all the love and welcoming vibes you would hope for when you spend a quality eve out on the town. The owners make every part of the experience worth every penny! Had to finally leave a review after our last dine. We took my mom and dad who were visiting from Newport Beach...a fish capital of the west coast. Even my dad had to leave a review! He was blown away. The food was flawless and the service was so warm and friendly. Thanks Nourish! Never thought we would find our best Sushi in the mountains.

Restaurantji Recommends
I used to love going to this restaurant but that was under the previous ownership. My experience was very frustrating. When I told them that the rice was loose and falling apart, the owner sent the waitress back to us to let us know that it was supposed to be that way. We looked at our waitress “like seriously!?!” She apologized and took the plate over to show the owner. Most of the rice was on the table because it was not well made, authentic sushi. Our waitress was very polite and apologetic when we expressed that the atmosphere was too loud. We are talking bar type energy not a classy sushi restaurant. The owner was the loudest and frankly the rudest and off putting person in the building. She only gave us a small discount on the dish that kept falling apart before we could get it in our mouths. I was hoping for a wonderful meal in a beautiful atmosphere but instead I over paid for bad sushi and got insulted by the owner. If you run a business you should be able to take criticism. I didn’t want to have to post a review, and this is the first one I have ever made but unfortunately felt compelled to do so. One of the waitresses who was acting as the crowd booster and walking from table to table was yelling and riling each group up. That same annoying waitress came over to our table after we politely complained to our kind waitress about our experience and asked us about it. I was honest and even told her the part she played in our experience and she said in a condescending tone “We like to create an upbeat really fun environment so you should go somewhere else” before she told me she was the owner. I told her I don’t need her input and she said “I will give you my input because I’m the owner”. I said we still had a horrible experience. She didn’t care and looked at me like I was beneath her. Classy and polite or even tolerable are not any way to describe Nourish with this type of management. I felt sorry for the kind waitress and hopes she will find a healthier work environment. I will not be coming back and I’m telling anyone I can to go elsewhere. Good luck staying in business and you should treat your customers with respect and gratitude.

I love eating here. The vibes, service, and food is great. I could easily eat a Naha roll everyday. I love the fresh flavors of the mango, lemon, and basil. It is so nice to be able to order a California roll with real crab. The miso soup is warm and savory. Having gluten free options at a sushi place in our little town is such a treat.

Gold Country isn't exactly a foodie destination but this place is bucking the trend.
Charming service and creative rolls come out quickly. Even the miso soup is thoughtful.
Sake lists are usually pretty lazy but this one has some hits and some great surprises.
Sitting at the sushi bar makes for great conversation but they also have a little patio off to the side. The dining room itself could use some more stuff on the walls but it seems like that might be forthcoming.
Highly recommended.

I must say with all due respect that the two times I've been to the restaurant it's been a very unpleasant experience due to the customer service, rude, somewhat passive-aggressive treatment and a simple suggestion seems like a complex activity, unfortunately I can't recommend it and well I won't try it a third time, the only friendly one was a girl at the entrance, keep smiling like that!!. Thank you and well just as positive things are written sometimes we have the difficult mission of showing the details that need to be improved.

The place to be for bland food and pretentious staff. Make no mistake, this is not a kid friendly environment. If they were honest, they’d let you know to leave any children under age 10 at home. 10/10 would NOT recommend. We spent $330 here tonight and I will never be returning. Sushi Q can have my business any day. Come for ridiculously overpriced and whitewashed food, in an environment that caters to a certain Nevada City demographic, if you know what I mean. I am highly disappointed. Never again.
