Best Reuben I think I've ever had. They're running a pretty nifty operation there. I'm happy to pay near $20 a sandwich to keep small shops like this in our neighborhood. The cost almost deterred me as I waited in line, but I'm really happy I got to experience that delicious Reuben.

I ordered two sandwiches, a Ham Standard and the Wednesday special, Italian Beef and sausage. The Ham Standard was simply inedible, it tasted bad. There is no more to be said for it. The Special had very little beef and way too much rather tasteless sausage. $39 for these two sandwiches was a waste.

The food is good but the portion size for the price is ABSOLUTELY INSANE. I went in for their Rueben, which is good, though small for the price, but they didn't have the main ingredient! I instead made the mistake of paying $20 for a fried chicken sandwich with a very thinly sliced piece of cheese, a modest amount of arugula and mayo and single chicken breast on it with mediocre breading. That is a joke when it doesn't even come with a side or a drink. Like, seriously? I won't be coming back. What a waste of my money. Oh, it did come with a pickle as well. That was cool I guess.

One of our favourite stops while in Nevada city that we came 3 days in a row - their Reuben is AMAZING. Best one we’ve ever had because they use a brisket-like meat. We also did their Italian sausage sandwich, their fried chicken sandwich (their Thursday special) and the Ham Standard. All of which were really good! Their service is amazing and they specially held 2 steaks for us to pick up 2 days later and the quality of the meat was just amazing! Highly recommend to stop before a hike or camping if you’re in the area!!

Ham Stand catered our wedding in Downieville and crushed it! Everyone raved about the food and Rose's team was extremely professional and well prepared. We're so grateful they were a part of our celebration. Sandos are also excellent in the store - we are lifelong customers!
Had a Cubano (their Saturday special). It was a totally amazing sandwich. Sometimes you eat something and you think, "I'm going to remember that." For example, I had a brisket sandwich in 2015 in North Carolina with a coworker and we used to joke about how unforgettable it was. This Cubano was in that league. The Ham Stand is a place for people who really "get" meat. If you are doing Keto, Paleo, or you feel that meat and quality fat are a good thing, you have to check out this place.

This place is truly special. Extremely high quality, cured meats and sausages, hoof to tail butchery of locally, and ethically sourced animals. Best pastrami outside of NY city, best bacon anywhere. Don't overlook the house made, sliced galantine turkey on the Gobbler, nor the house made salumi cotto and mortadella on the Ham Standard. If this place was in the SF bay area it would be on every foodie's top 10 list and nobody would balk at the prices. We are blessed to have such a gem in our cute mountain town and you're an ignorant fool if you think $20 is overpriced for what you get.

I have always loved the food and the staff, but it used to break my heart to hear the owner put down (or "coach") his staff in front of customers. Now that Kevin is the owner, it feels welcoming and warm, and the food is just as good as ever. I feel fine about the price point because I know the ingredients are one of the many reasons the food is excellent. Locally sourced and worth going. Love their salumi and take away soups. Oh, and the giant cookie.
I finally went here..june 2nd..see receipt. I wanted to give it 5 stars but the roast beef sandwich for over 19 bucks was way too expensive for the product. It does not come with chips or soda. No inside dining but there is some picnic chairs to sit on outside.There was alot of hype..unfortunately it did not wow me. One side of the sandwich was thick and the other half was about half as much meat. I do like that they have some really nice cheeses and salamis. I did buy some chorizo sausages..hope they turn out good!No beer or wine is available. Friendly employees.I hope they do well in Nevada City....
