There is often a long wait on Fridays and weekend nights, but I honestly don’t really see the hype. The sushi is just okay, probably better quality than most that you can find in Ventura County, but the cuts of fish, especially salmon sashimi and scallop nigiri are so thin that it doesn’t justify the price at all. And it’s very pricy for what you get!

Sushi Oaks is a hidden gem in Thousand Oaks. The fish is incredibly fresh, and their spicy tuna hand rolls are easily some of the best I’ve ever had—perfect texture, just the right balance of ingredients . Everything here is clean, balanced, and clearly made with care. Great service, chill atmosphere, no fluff—just top-tier sushi done right. Highly recommend.

I e lived in Np for a long time and have never been here before- I don’t know why. I went here and the food was really yummy and was served quickly, even though the restaurant was full. It’s a small restaurant but we were able to get a table after a 10 minute wait on a Friday night. We started with the edamame and gyoza which was fresh and crunchy. I then ordered the albacore sashimi in ponzu sauce, the Special tempura roll, which was made with the thin paper instead of rice on the outside and had good flavor. We also got a regular shrimp tempura roll which was yummy. Lastly we got the Pink Cadillac roll which is salmon with a teriyaki glaze on top. It was baked and I really enjoyed it all! I will be back for sure!

If you want the best of small family Japanese restaurants,please do not go here. So good , the best of many. I always get the Blue fin Tuna, Always Happy. I go with my Sister and Brother in Law any chance we can get together and we have never had any problem, top Notch Family Sushi ! Don't go there, too crowded go away..... or not..Smooches....

I can honestly say that Sushi Oaks is one of the best if not the best sushi restaurants I have had the pleasure to dine in. The fish is always top notch. The flavors of the rolls are fantastic.
