We had a party of 7 and from the drinks, to appetizers, dinner and desserts the food came out in very strange and uneven intervals. It must have been the cooks off night because the food was also not on par. To be honest I've enjoyed my dinner and service in the past, but last night was not their night. In the end they were apologetic. We will go back, but with a smaller crowd because it's very noisy.

Great service with an old established vibe. Concept friendly and excellent service. Comfortable and established culture.

While vacationing in Newport our family was looking for a place to eat for dinner and came across this spot with it being less than a mile from our hotel. First off when we arrived it had maybe 4 tables occupied so it was nice to have no wait. The restaurant itself had a cool vibe and the menus are a nice touch as well. The first thing we ordered was Chicken strips and fries, and let me just say these were the WORST ones I've ever had. The were so over cooked/old they were not edible. I'm not one to usually return food but it was BAD. The server gave us a new plate and they were much better after that but for how much they charged the portion was laughable. The rest of our food was okay, but nothing to write home about. If your looking for good quality food this is not the spot. Disappointed and will not be back..

Had the prime rib special on Thursday. Good, but not as good as the ribs special on Mondays.

Wish we had a pub that served continental plates in Long Beach! Family pub. Good bar. Decent meals. Friendly staff. Love the rotating daily specials too.

Food was excellent. Tuesday tri-tip special & a hamburger. Both cooked perfect. A little noisy in the bar area, but expected to be such.

Service was unusually slow. Seems like the kitchen was way behind. Everyone was friendly and the food and drinks were good. They just seemed to be having an off night.

We always love coming to The Alley, always consistent food, drinks, and service! Please send our compliments to the chef and servers!

Good food, service and it continues to satisfy.. bar level can get really noisy but that is expected

This place is our favorite for their clam & seafood chowders...depending on the availability of the seafood. Both are exceptional and well worth the trip, just for that...Friday and Saturdays only. Not always available. I never order from the menu and always enjoy ordering from the specials board. The chefs are the stars here and have us coming back weekly! Not to mention the bar is tagged with the line...heaviest pour on the shore!

We love The Alley! Service is always consistently friendly and attentive The food is always great, but we go knowing what to expect given that it's a bar atmosphere. We have yet to try the weekend brunch, that'll change soon ;) Always a satisfying meal at The Alley!

Parking was easy, we were greeted by a very friendly hostess, we had an amazing salmon salad $22, and artichoke. Both were delicious. Service was excellent and everyone was so friendly. Highly recommend.

Kelsey, our server, was friendly, competent and very kind. There was an older couple at a nearby table. It was obvious that the husband (assumed) had cognitive issues. His wife(assumed) took charge and ordered for them both. Kelsey, seemed to know them, perhaps regulars, and could not be kinder and in serving them. She even cleaned up a small food mess that the gentleman caused. She was never dismissive nor patronizing. She was simply kind. Brava!!!!

Hadn't been there in 25 years. Thought it so-so then, but went back for old time's sake. Glad we did. We had calamari steak and a filet mignon. Both were excellent and excellent bargains as well. I had the filet - 10 oz, tender, bacon-wrapped and perfectly cooked. My wife reported the generous piece of calamari among the best she's had. And our martinis! We did't go there especially for them, but they were Tanqueray as ordered - triple hookers! - $14 apiece, an amazing bargain. Service was slightly slow, but we had the martis to savor while we waited and enjoyed taking in the regulars seated near us.
