Service was unusually slow. Seems like the kitchen was way behind. Everyone was friendly and the food and drinks were good. They just seemed to be having an off night.
We always love coming to The Alley, always consistent food, drinks, and service! Please send our compliments to the chef and servers!
Good food, service and it continues to satisfy.. bar level can get really noisy but that is expected
This place is our favorite for their clam & seafood chowders...depending on the availability of the seafood. Both are exceptional and well worth the trip, just for that...Friday and Saturdays only. Not always available. I never order from the menu and always enjoy ordering from the specials board. The chefs are the stars here and have us coming back weekly! Not to mention the bar is tagged with the line...heaviest pour on the shore!
Our server Joanie is our fave!! Absolutely wonderful, kind, patient while we βgirlsβ lollygag the evening away. Always a treat to be at The Alley!! ππΌππΌππΌππΌππΌ
We love The Alley! Service is always consistently friendly and attentive The food is always great, but we go knowing what to expect given that it's a bar atmosphere. We have yet to try the weekend brunch, that'll change soon ;) Always a satisfying meal at The Alley!
Parking was easy, we were greeted by a very friendly hostess, we had an amazing salmon salad $22, and artichoke. Both were delicious. Service was excellent and everyone was so friendly. Highly recommend.
Kelsey, our server, was friendly, competent and very kind. There was an older couple at a nearby table. It was obvious that the husband (assumed) had cognitive issues. His wife(assumed) took charge and ordered for them both. Kelsey, seemed to know them, perhaps regulars, and could not be kinder and in serving them. She even cleaned up a small food mess that the gentleman caused. She was never dismissive nor patronizing. She was simply kind. Brava!!!!
Hadn't been there in 25 years. Thought it so-so then, but went back for old time's sake. Glad we did. We had calamari steak and a filet mignon. Both were excellent and excellent bargains as well. I had the filet - 10 oz, tender, bacon-wrapped and perfectly cooked. My wife reported the generous piece of calamari among the best she's had. And our martinis! We did't go there especially for them, but they were Tanqueray as ordered - triple hookers! - $14 apiece, an amazing bargain. Service was slightly slow, but we had the martis to savor while we waited and enjoyed taking in the regulars seated near us.
Ribs are amazing and I am not even a fan of ribs. Fall right off the bone. Almost all the food is incredible here. Have been a regular for 10+ years. It's a gem. So glad the new owner upgraded the place yet kept then original menu etc ?

We had an enjoyable dinner with friends. Venue is a bit noisy, tables a bit small, and room was far too dark, to the point where we had a hard time actually seeing what we were eating! Food quality and value extremely good. Service however was lacking. Our server never checked in on us after our food was delivered, and never came back to thank us for our business after presenting us with the bill. Our request for two separate checks was denied.
As a restaurant owner, I can tell when management and/or the chef and cooks don't give a s**t anymore. And that has happened here, unfortunately. The food was beyond bland. The sauteed mushrooms that came with my steak were ina small bowl, and devoid of any seasoning or taste. The sauce on the steak Diane tasted like it came from a can. Everyone at our table noticed the lack of seasoning immediately and started adding salt and pepper to give some flavor to their dishes. The prices are reasonable, and it would take so little effort to make this a really stellar restaurant, but like I said, they obviously don't care. If the managers or owners ever tasted the food, they would agree with me.
The Alley is always solid. Our entrees (all 3 fish dishes) were very good. Our server was very nice and had a nice pace. Challenge is that it can be very loud in such a small, old space. Super casual with a cult-like following which is all good.
The Alley has a very good selection of items on their menu. This was our first time there, and we will return. We both ordered the 10oz. filet mignon, which came with 2 side orders. At most places, you don't have an option of choosing your sides (or they must be ordered separately), so this was one reason the meal is such a great value. We enjoyed the steak, though I felt it needed more seasoning or perhaps a sauce. I poured my sauteed mushrooms on it. For a Monday evening, they were pretty busy, which says something about them and why they've been successful for almost 40 years. It seemed like there were a lot of locals, by interactions I observed with staff.
This is comfort food at its best. The daily specials are always outstanding. The bar is lively and can be loud. We try to sit as far away from it as possible. Prices are reasonable.
