Bear Flag Fish Co.

This place is so far my favorite in south california. How can a place be that good? The fish is fresh and they cock it to perfection. The sushi is out of this world and the oysters are also amazing. Come early if you don’t wanna do a long line but, that’s why is so popular, cause is really good.

Got sick from bad fish

I came last year twice and pokes were delicious. I visited again this week and it was not as tasty and portions definitely got smaller. We had half a pound each and we were still hungry…

I went to Bear Flag after coming from the beach yesterday and it was a great experience. I had the poke, and it did take a little while, but it was worth the wait. The environment was nice because it was right next to the beach in a beautiful plaza, and service was exceptional.

Kind of sad that 2 out of 3 of our fish dishes had very dry fish. Prior experiences were better than this one. Hope they remedy this shortcoming soon. One order was also wrong and had to wait a long time for corrected order.

Emily was the cashier for the first time we went to the restaurant a few days ago
She went way beyond the call of duty helping me and explaining all the different choices being it was my first time at the restaurant
The food was so good. I believe it is from Santa Monica Seafood one of our other favorites that we went back two more times during our one week stay in Laguna Beach.

My son's iPad was stolen right outside this place and they had a security camera pointed right where it was stolen from. I asked an employee to help me find out what happened on the cameras and she was ready to help. Then the manager was notified and she shut down any requests I had before I could even finish asking them. Telling me there was not a camera pointing at the front door until I pointed it out and gave me excuse after excuse as if she stole the iPad and was trying to hide any evidence which didnt make any sense to me. Being that rude to a customer and to not be willing to do the minimum to help a child out is why i will never eat at this place again and there is much better options in the center anyways

This place is amazing. We sat at the bar and had full service. The food is so delicious and fresh. Dillon took great care of us. The experience was memorable and I’ll for sure be back.

I get a spicy ahi tuna poke bowl with avacado and other assorted toppings and it’s always so fresh.

Had the tacos with premium fish — super fresh. It gets crowded and seating’s tight, but something usually frees up by the time you order.

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! THEY PUT YOU ON HOLD THEN HANG UP!!! NO MORE TIPS!!

We had a truly disappointing experience at Bear Flag Fish Co. despite coming in as a large group and placing our full order all at once. Two of the meals we paid for never even made it to the table. On top of that, when we politely asked for ginger—something that should’ve been a simple request—we were told we had to pay for it, even though we had already closed out our tab.

To make matters worse, they refused to bring it over or help us directly and instead forced us to wait in the incredibly long line again just for a basic condiment. The staff showed zero flexibility or care for customer service, even after we explained the situation. The entire experience felt dismissive and unwelcoming, and unfortunately, it overshadowed the food.
