We went with 10 of us to celebrate a birthday. Typical busy Friday night the band was really excellent but the main bartender really had no interest in serving anyone. I guess we are a little bit on the older side I'm sure he just prefers to serve hot young women. Probably won't be back. Far too many places to spend the kind of money we did that night.

Prices are absolutely insane. Get a canned shitty seltzer for $12. Word word word it gets busy and crowded. Idk prob ain't worth it

Great vibe, great live band, great drinks, great service minus one of the bartenders last night, who was a complete prick. Maybe his dog died before he went to work. Not sure what his deal was. But everything else was awesome.

Had the worst experience tonight. This is in regards to one of the bouncers/front door man had with a shaved head. He threw slurs out tonight. I wish I had recorded it. There were at least 5 witnesses who were upset as I am. I will not be going back to this establishment. This was in the evening of December 1 2023. I rarely write reviews as a patron. I’ve only written it in my bad experiences; however; this is the worst experience I’ve ever had.

Food was good. But doorman just looked at our id's then gave us a blank stare. Didn't tell us if we are seated or if we sit anywhere we please. No menus, you have to stand at a wall and look at a very used and abused menu taped to it. As an out of towner I expected something else. Also as we were sitting in the booth eating our meal they shut the lights off on us and it was dark enough that we couldn't see our food 2 feet in front of us. The band was good though. Minus the 45-50 year old lady who couldn't let go of her bar days and was super offended that some 20 year Olds didn't know any Abba songs.

My friends and I were on vacation in the area and stumbled across the blue beet. The bouncer said we can hang out for an hour until closing time. When the first person in our group showed her ID, he looked at it, and said "no I'm not dealing with any bullshit tonight". We initially thought he was joking, but he said "I don't mess around with fake ID's". We are all visiting from Hawaii, and are all over 21 so there shouldn't have been an issue, yet he denied entry. All because he thought we weren't from Hawaii and that we were using fakes. SO stupid.

Came here for the happy hour they advertised, and the bartender just informed us their website (that lured us in) has incorrect information. It says they have live music every day and that's not true. He said they should have live music on Thursday -Monday. It also states they have $5 drinks and $5 martinis for Happy Hour and he said that's not true. Well drinks are $2 off the reg $9 price during happy hour. A martini is double the price. We asked for a correct Hapoy Hour menu since it's not correct online and he said they don't have one. Yes, I had no explanation of why their website is falsely advertising their daily specials. He said ever since 2020 nothing is correct on the website. While we were there, other people came in to listen to live music and found out it was all misleading.

HORRIBLE IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT- Wes pockets the $20 cover from young adults trying to celebrate their 21st birthday and then let's a smug 20 something, blond hair mean ass bitch that says she works at Blue Beet come to the entrance and manipulates him by telling him that 'that girl called me a bitch' so now doesn't let a birthday party filled with locals enter the establishment. Nobody said a word to her, our entire party was in line and I am over 50 talking to Wes and she continues to call me names. That girl lost her mind and your owner lost revenue because of your so called employee tonight and it was disgusting. She should be fired. For as long as we can remember 20-30 years at least, Blue Beet has always hired amazing people to run their bar, they're always friendly and super fun but you have hired the bottom of the barrel with this girl. Blackies, Beachball, Helms, Woodys all got our business that evening.

Nice upper deck.. food and service are ok.. Inside smells like mold. Not a place I would frequent

Probably the coolest bar I’ve ever been into. Great music great drinks. Sadly it’s not as lively as it could be during the week, maybe some drink specials would entice more folks to come enjoy this eclectic piece of Newport Beach history.

Bartender was really nice. Music upstairs was ridiculously loud, and he stopped what he was doing to help out and turn it down.

We threw my husbands 60th bday at the Blue Beet. Rented out the rooftop patio and I was blown away with how great it all turned out. Coming from out of town I had never been there and Leah helped me make sure everything went to plan. The rooftop was super cool, private spot for surprise and they set it up with everything I requested, ordered special champagne for event, we had our own bartender up there and the food was amazing. Everyone, literally everyone said the their dish was great for sit down dinner most had salmon and steak. The service was great the bartender, Jen and manager JJ super cool. 10/10. The vibe is old-school, hidden gem, great service and food...throw your next party here!

Minor crowd + good bar food. This combo is hard to Beet! Blue Beet is a dive bar that sits pretty close to the Newport Beach Pier. This spot is known for its multi level rooms, including a pretty cool rooftop area that overlooks the ocean. On a clear day you can even see Catalina! Despite being in a very popular area, Blue Beet is hidden in a small alcove. It doesn't get as much traffic as it's neighboring bars, which makes it the perfect local hang. They also serve food, which is a major win in my book. I ordered the chicken nachos and the pickle fries. Both fried munchies were made to perfection for a drunk stomach. I ended up sharing these with a group of 5+ and it was more than enough food to get the job done.

The best bar in Newport. Great food and great service. If you don't like it, go to Cassidy's they'll take real good care of you.
