I haven't been in since the COVID era and decided to swing by for lunch on my way back up the coast this morning.
I only meant to eat a little bit of my salad and take the rest of it home, but Christ was it good!!! 🐷
Walter at the bar on Tuesdays and Thursdays is my absolute favorite. The bar/barstool height is awkward though....it places the dinner plate at the diner's throat rather than abdomen/chest height.... somewhat awkward. 😳

Let’s start with the food was tasty, not mind blowing but tasty. The evening we went there were no specials so we ordered straight from the menu. The menu has many choices and if you like seafood you are sure to find something you enjoy.
The ambiance is very casual. The booths and tables remind me of a diner. The location tho is super nice. Parking is difficult to find so you may have to valet for a $7 fee.
The service was simply awful. We went there for my birthday. We had a party of 6 with a reservation. The restaurant was virtually empty when we went so there seemed to be many table choices. Unfortunately we were given a booth, which we did not want, and when we asked for a round table or other table we were told no. It was not until we were walking out to go to the restaurant next door were we given a different table. The waiter was not attentive and didn’t seem to know the menu. When we asked for something or a question he would disappear for 15 minutes or so. We were literally sitting at the table without ordering for over 1/2 an hour. Fortunately they did at least bring us water. This service continued throughout the meal.
Do not think I need to return :(

My wife and I went to the Bluewater grill for Valentine’s Day. The food was good and the atmosphere was great. The only downside is that they were out of a lot of things and no desserts were available either.

This location is not nearly as good as the Carlsbad location. We went here for an early Valentines Day dinner. We thought it was odd that they weren't very busy. We sat outside under a broken heater. It was cold fortunately I brought my jacket. It was still a bit cold but this inside was noisy. The barking dog next to us didn't help the atmosphere. If you go expect people to bring their emotional support dogs with them. The crab cakes were good. The rest of the meal was poor. Overcooked and the flavor was bland. I thought it was just me. After having my husband try my scallops he agreed that they didn't taste good. He had boulabase. It wasn't flavorful and bland. I grew up in Newport Beach and I expected better. The visit reminded him of why he hadn't been back to the Lido Pininsula location. I've only been to the Carlsbad location which is much better overall.

Steamed Clem & Mussels Always wonderful !!!. Bar area & out side terrace also nicely !!! Location... Foods... People... everything wonderful !!! Enjoy every lunch & dinner in Bluewater Grill Newport Beach !!!

Bluewater Grill always has great food including the Clam Chowder. Our early dinner was very good and the service by Elias was excellent. The restaurant was very busy due to tourist bus that had 40 people for dinner, but BWG handled it with no problem. Great view of large boats docked next to restaurant and nice late afternoon weather. Highly recommend this restaurant especially if you sit outside.

Another outstanding evening at Bluewater Grill! Whoever does hiring should be commended-the staff is consistently friendly, capable and efficient! We usually eat outside but it was chilly so we ate in and the main dining area was quite loud. A few large groups will do that! Now, for the meal! Trout amandine was fabulous. Fish snobs who opt for the butterfish or Barramundi should give this a try!! Tasted the Salmon and it was also perfectly prepared. Potatoes and green beans were tasty! Creme brulee was suggested for a shared dessert. My plan was to eat one polite spoonful...yes, I had more than one, and yes, I scraped the bowl! Wow!

We had such a fantastic experience at Blue Water Grill tonight! Our server, Julie S. was fantastic and highly knowledgeable. She was so helpful in making recommendations, and she was happy and attentive. She has almost 10 years of serving experience at this restaurant and she was so gracious. The restaurant is lively. We decide to sit at open seating lounge tables which was nice because it felt tucked away and relaxed. I loved the dim ambiance and music. Great location and lovely experience. The food was flavorful and fresh. We dined family style and just kept ordering more and more dishes to share.
