Perfect ambiance and service! You want to chill on a Friday night go sit by the bar and enjoy great selection of wine and great seafood! People who work here are so friendly and make you feel home! Perfect location and good for family gatherings with lots of options for food.

5 stars Bluewater Grill's other location in Catalina Island made a good impression on us, so we decided to visit their Newport Beach location which is 35 miles from home. Yes, we're that determined ;) We made a reservation for 4 people at 2 pm, 4/28/24. Parking: $7 Valet or metered street parking for $2.30/hr. It is easy to find a parking spot on Sundays. Ambiance: Relaxed, welcoming atmosphere, moderate noise level, and comfortable outdoor seating overlooking the water and beautiful yachts. The Catalina Island location is much nicer than the NP beach, but this location is still very nice considering this was the first original location, according to our server. Food: I have to say NP Beach wins over their Catalina Island location when it comes to taste and portion size :) *Sourdough bread and butter- complimentary and made fresh. So good we had to ask for another one. *Oysters- we came here because of their oysters! Buttery texture, fresh, no weird taste, and has a hint of sweetness. *Lobster tail with dirty rice & scalloped potatoes- huge portion compared to the Catalina Island location. Perfectly seasoned & juicy. *Crispy calamari- crispy and soft; very good! *Fisherman's platter- beer battered Alaskan cod, prawns, scallops, fries, coleslaw. Finger-licking good! *Gemelli pasta with shrimp & scallops- my personal favorite! Creamy, well-seasoned, and has the perfect balance with all of its accompanying ingredients (mushroom, asparagus, cream, parmesan). *Clam chowder- very rich and filling. We got 4 orders. Delicious! *Seafood Louis salad - the best salad I've ever had & I'm not even a salad person. They did not hold back on the crab. Another favorite! *Lemon & pepper mahi mahi with scalloped potatoes and spinach- my least favorite. Spinach was bland; the fish was good but nothing out of the extraordinary. Service: Our server, Steven, provided us with excellent service. He took care of our group very well with a smile, gave suggestions, and recommended his personal favorites on the menu. Our food also came at a reasonable time. Steven was personable and made small conversations with my group that made our day extra special. Price: Reasonable prices for a seafood restaurant by the marina. With what's mentioned above plus 2 coffees, 1 tea, and 1 diet coke, our bill came to $320 for 4 people. I highly recommend Bluewater Grill, and we are already planning our next visit!

Hostess is really cold, unwelcoming. Food is pretty bland, great presentation but flavor is 10/10 lacking for how expensive it is.

Amazing food Sunday dinner at this place. Ordered the Gumbo, besides needing salt it was delicious. I highly recommend the smoked fish platter, It's amazing. The Bluewater Grill is on a little inlet in Newport Beach. It has great seafood. There's paid street parking and valet parking. We came earlier than the usual lunch time. The place was fairly empty when we arrived, but there were only two empty parking spots. We used the valet parking lot. The place filled up after we arrived. I can't figure out where all those people parked their cars.I had a fisherman's platter consisting of fried shrimp, fried scallops, and fried cod along with french fries and coleslaw. It was delicious. The view from the terrace, all those boats docked nearby, is pleasant. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible. Service was friendly and efficient. I enjoyed my meal, and I recommend the Bluewater Grill.Parking: Not much street parking.Wheelchair accessibility: The place is on the ground floor and is wheelchair accessible.

Great stop on the harbor in Newport. The food is first rate in a casual, but classy setting. The menu is extensive and varied, particularly the fish, but the trout and sand dabs are hard to beat. The service is solid. Rhiana has a perfect balance of providing great insight on the menu, making solid suggestions and giving you space to socialize. They know how to do it right here.

Update: The owner is a really nice man! He not only reached out to me immediately, but was candid and genuine with me. As we all know, f.flys are notoriously difficult pests to maintain, even in the most sanitary environments. Rather than point the finger at them - I'd rather prefer to commend their commitment to the community consisting predominantly of neighborhood local customers - who are their bread & butter ! (also their bread & butter is quite excellent as well mind you) Thank you Jim for taking time out of your busy day to speak with me! You're a good man!

We have been to several of these throughout So Cal. The food is always great. I love the Oysters Rockefeller and the Goat Cheese grits and get them every time. The clam chowder is one of the best I have had. The Mediterranean Ahi Salad was a bit bland. The lobster roll is very good but standard. The only bad part today was the unhappy employees. Maybe it's not a great place to work? The girl that sat us was just a downer with no smile and you could feel the bad attitude. The waiters were not bad, but not engaging, no energy or smiles. We won't go back to this one, there are several of these around. Try the one in Carlsbad, the people there were energetic and happy. The one in Redondo Beach is wonderful as well. Too bad because Newport is close by. It's worth the drive to go where you feel wanted.
