A True Hidden Gem in Newport Beach — Campus JAX is Incredible
I visited Campus JAX last night for their weekly Tuesday Songstage event, and I was really impressed. Kayla Kraemer was hosting a special Holiday Party edition and did a fantastic job — great energy, smooth transitions, and the perfect vibe to kick off the night.
I ordered the Jambalaya for dinner and honestly… it tasted like the best home-cooked meal I’ve had in a long time. Perfectly seasoned, generous portion, and absolutely delicious.
What really sets Campus JAX apart is the atmosphere. It’s not your typical bar-and-grill setup — it feels more like a supper club, which is something truly unique for Orange County. The sound quality was excellent, the music was top-tier, and the room had such a warm, classy, intimate feel to it.
If you’re looking for something different — great food, live music, and a touch of class — Campus JAX is a must-see. Their Tuesday Songstage is absolutely worth checking out, and they have amazing bands playing throughout the week. This is definitely one of the best live-music dining experiences in the area. Highly recommended!

Very Dark in an industrial area. Inside very dark and small space. Food looked fresh and the Jojo Chips (a type of fried potatoes) were delicious and you get a ton.
Band playing—Tricia Freeman was very good. A few people danced. Seems low key, maybe best suited for dinner with music in background.

My wife and I were there last night to listen to a Steely Dan tribute band. One star for the sound system being obnoxiously too loud for a dine-in venue. Made the band sound horrible.

It is always a fun night at Jax when the reflexx are playing. Service was a tiny bit slow but it was packed so totally understandable. Jaxs french fries are the best! And the old fashioned hit the spot.

Compus Jax and its predecessor when they used to be in Newport Beach, have been amazing since day one. Food is just so good!!! The JackPasta/JackRice is to die for! Anything in the Classic Jax part of the menu is a winner!!!
