Gary's New York Deli

This place was like so friendly, like apart of the community. The owner was so accommodating to ever question, and the History of this establishment was Amazing!!! The food stood on its own,and the New York Italian sub was so filling I ate it for Brunch and Dinner. Best Sandwich I have had on the West Coast, So far! I will be back soon! FYI- The Pickle had the Crunch! TY

Going to Gary’s is always a fun event for my family. My kids always get some of their amazing burgers, and to be honest, i get the burger too. You could guess what I recommend. :)

Found Gary’s on our last trip to Newport Beach and had to come back this time around. Today is was for their super good breakfast burritos and bagel w/ lox. Last time it was the pastrami and burger. Everything there is delicious and everyone is so nice!

Excellent deli right on PCH. Lots of parking on the street and behind. Been here a few times and this was the first time we saw the garden patio, so cute! The staff was super friendly and best of all they had a corned beef ruben, best I have had in ages!

Good old NY deli! Originally from NY and I can get a taste of NY from this place. Love the pastrami, Matzo ball soup and knish! Lox and cream cheese is nice and fresh!

Gary's New York Deli is hands down the most authentic slice of NYC you'll find in Laguna! This hidden gem has become my go-to spot whenever I'm craving a proper deli experience without the cross-country flight.

Their tuna melt deserves its own special recognition - perfectly toasted bread with just the right amount of butter, generous portions of house-made tuna salad (not too much mayo, plenty of flavor), and cheese melted to golden perfection. It's consistently excellent every single time I order it, which is saying something in this day and age.

The outdoor patio is absolutely the place to be, especially on those perfect Southern California days. It's thoughtfully designed with both sunny and shaded areas, comfortable seating, and enough space between tables that you don't feel like you're dining with strangers. The ambiance is actually surprising for a Deli and strikes that perfect balance between casual and charming, with potted plants and subtle lighting that makes evening dining equally pleasant.

Beyond the tuna melt, their entire menu is stellar. The pastrami looks tender, the rye bread fresh, and their pickles provide that perfect garlicky crunch. Portions are generous without being wasteful, and prices are fair for the quality and quantity you receive. Can’t wait to go back and try more!

The staff deserves special mention as well - they're knowledgeable about the menu, efficient with service, and genuinely friendly without being intrusive. It's clear they take pride in the place, which shows in every aspect of the experience.

Roast beef on the French dip was extremely dry and old like it was cut a long time ago. Didn’t include utensils. They had turkey sitting on the counter for the 15 minutes I had to wait. Don’t think it was worth what I paid.

Garys Deli offers a range of food, from sandwiches made with your choice of deli meats to burgers and even tacos! Stopped on our lunch break while working in the area yesterday, i had the double cheeseburger with bacon and the banana shake. Both were very delicious 🤤 ! I want to try the meatball sub next time, very soon.. Highly recommend! Friendly service, and little to no wait! Clean tables out back with shade. What more could you want? 5 stars ⭐️
