The food at Great Maple was very good, and we really enjoyed the flavors and presentation. Unfortunately, the service didn’t match the quality of the food. We constantly had to wait and often had to call the waiter just to get drinks. We also ordered French fries that never arrived, and we asked for extra dressing for the salad which also never came.
It was a bit disappointing because the food itself was excellent, but the service was not at par with what was being served. I hope they can improve the attentiveness of the staff because the restaurant definitely has great potential with the quality of their dishes.

I had heard great things about Great Maple and since we were in the area, we decided to try it out for breakfast! Best idea ever! This place is located at Fashion Island. It’s clean and well decorated! Everyone is so nice here from the hostess to our server. Super attentive! The food was phenomenal!! We ordered: portobello mushroom fries (had to try those since that’s what they are known for), traditional biscuit Benedict, ribeye hash, fried chicken and doughnuts and the kids chocolate chip pancakes. Everything was absolutely delicious!!! Their coffee was so good too!! Highly recommend this place!

We had a 7:45 PM reservation and arrived early, yet were told upon entry that the kitchen was already closed. After staff spoke with the manager, the reservation was honored.
However, before 7:45 PM, we were repeatedly questioned about when the rest of our party would arrive, even though our reservation time had not yet occurred. Shortly after being seated, we were told the kitchen would be closing in 5–7 minutes. At that point, we chose to leave.
We have dined here several times and have always enjoyed it, which made this experience especially disappointing. If a restaurant is open and accepting reservations, those reservations should be honored without unnecessary pressure or repeated questioning. This experience left us feeling that the customer did not matter.

He is awesome waiter (he is a Asian) He is very decent dude and make sure I understand and I am glad I am here I hope he is still here when I come back here. I usually go to two restaurants only not here Cuz of two years ago the blonde lady is very rude impatience like ignore me I wait wait wait before I finally ordered I asked her questions cuz I have some allergies I have to be careful cuz I ended up at hoag hospital down by the beach Anyway he did awesome waiter I believe I give a great maple restaurant second chance unluckily, the manager couldn’t get closed caption on tv bummer sighs I can’t come back here cuz a couple of restaurants on fashion island Newport Beach do provide closed caption on tv all the time :-) Hope the manager will get Closed Caption on for everyone anyway.

Our server helped me out but wish the restaurant was more equipped for gluten-free/Celiac. Otherwise, the food was EXCELLENT! My whole family enjoyed the meal and one who normally complains every time had nothing bad to say about his plate and said it was one of the best things he's eaten in a long time (protein bowl with salmon).

The baby back ribs were perfectly cooked and presented. The shrimp pasta was delicious and nicely presented. Saturday evening service was a bit slow because of the number of guests, but the server was so attentive that more than made up for the delay in the kitchen. We are glad we have rediscovered the Great Maple.

I ordered meatloaf with mashed potato. The meatloaf was covered with barbecue sauce. The quality of food really changed from the last time I was here. Even my wife was disappointed with the fettuccine with shrimp which came very spicy and very little lemon sauce. She mentioned this to the server but the server offered no apology about the complaint. My meatloaf taste very bland except for the barbecue sauce. I finished half of my meal because it was very boring to eat. That should have at least tell them that the customer doesn't like their food. We wrote a little note on their card to step up the quality of their food. But I don't think we'll be coming back again to eat here. It's sad because we always eat here whenever we visited Newport. I guess we have to find another go to place to eat.

Great Maple used to be a nice experience with upscale service and today it's like they made all the busboys the servers and the one working as the host position had seemed like a waiter at best. They took us back 30 min later than our reservation. What a downgrade!

Probably THE most flavorful food in Newport Beach. I got the Chicken and Doughnuts while my mom got the falafel and arugula salad. Both of us were extremely satisfied and the portions were big enough to take left overs home. The white peach bellini was delicious as well. They did up charge me for switching out the maple bacon doughnut for the cinnamon doughnut by $2 after I told the server, Kevin, I don't eat pork which I found very strange, but apparently the Chef said the flavor profiles were really important.... Overall a great experience. Definitely make a reservation in advance like we did so you don't have a 45 min wait :)
