One of my guests ordered the New York, and it was so tough that he couldn't eat it. I ordered the "Chef's Cut Ribeye." It was a wonderful piece of meat, but it came rare when I ordered medium rare plus. All five of the desserts we ordered were fantastic.
I would only order steak at this place. The lobster in the mashed potatoes had clearly gone bad and my halibut was overdone. So disappointing. It's super overpriced and only worth it if you want a beautiful location. Drinks in the lounge might be nice as they had live music and a nice ambiance. We won't be going back.
As always, we really enjoyed our experience last night on September 10 for my birthday. The food was perfect. The service was perfect. The ambience was perfect. It was a little bit loud but nothing that was disappointing. We look forward to returning as soon as possible to this wonderful fantastic establishment.
The mighty has fallen. We've always loved Mastros and often frequent this and other locations. This last visit completely missed the mark on so many levels, except the valet. The valet was good. We arrived a bit early, not greeted and told we would need to wait till our appointed time. Two other couples without reservations were seated before us. Hostess stand just a disaster, the gum chewing, hair touching, gossiping, we heard and saw it all. Seated at a table in the middle of the walk way. Almost in the dining room, mostly on the patio. Very loud group of women one table away. Sun in my husband's eyes the entire time. Loud women refused to allow staff to close the blind. Service was very slow. Appetizer plates still on table when entrees arrived. Server wasn't bad, she was overworked and unable to provide great service. Then the steak arrived. It was not fresh. Husband agreed. Chef agreed. It was replaced and comped, thank you, but the entire experience was just subpar. We're going to stick with the one in Costa Mesa.
Tuna Tartare needs salt and really just needs to be revamped as a dish. Spinach dip needs revamp to get some flavor other than butter and cream. Otherwise, second time dining there. The staples were always ON POINT but tighten up that menu with the remarks i made.
Always an amazing time and service. They never skip a beat and always know how to take care of you . The love music was great as well
We were celebrating my husband's birthday. They made that night very special for him. The food was amazing per usual. We had a great time.
They seemed to be understaffed, we waited a while to get waitress's attention, and noticed that all the managers were just walking around talking to the prettiest women in the place and drinking wine with them. We tried to pay our bill for 10 minutes and saw 3 managers walk by. And not one of them said, could I help you? And obviously we were like looking back-and-forth like we needed something Their priority was drinking wine with pretty guess
It was a wonderful experience. Our writer Dennis was outstanding and went above and beyond our expectations
We were exciting to be celebrating a birthday at Mastros. It fell short when a few things weren't carried out as requested. First, I asked for my girlfriend's name to be written on the menu, which they did and it was lovely. Second I asked for her name to be written on the desert plate, which they failed. Even though I reminded them twice. Also, I requested a nice high top bar table in the bar, and we were sat at a high top, but we were shoved in the corner, almost in the dining area, even though other nice bar high tops were available. Then onto the food and drinks. I ordered a glass of the house cab and my girlfriend ordered a premium glass of cab. When the bill came, we were both charged for a premium cab. We felt that was misleading. We ordered a Mastros chopped salad, which I normally love, but it fell short. The lettuce was old and not green, crisp and fresh. The salmon was good and the filet was just okay. Overall I've had better experiences at your restaurant

We celebrated our 31st anniversary at Mastro's in Newport Beach for the first time and both agreed the service food & ambience was exceptional. We both decided to celebrates our future upcoming anniversaries here. Oh allow me to add I never seen a waiter memorize the entire order without writing it down extremely impressive.
Great food and service, dined outside and being able to see the waves from the ocean is a must, especially while the sun sets
Extremely disappointed in the quality of the food. We came for a great steak and seafood and left disappointed. Our king crab legs were chewy and half of the medium/ large sized oysters we ordered were teeny-tiny. My husband's steak was mushy and mine was over seasoned and lacked natural juices, though cooked medium. Mashed potatoes were thin and bland. We won't be coming back here.
We use to go here so often. Service has declined sadly. Took a very long time to get our waters and acknowledge we were even there. We were there for almost 2 hours for a party of 5. Long breaks in between before server would make another appearance. For the prices the service did not match.
Celebrated our anniversary with friends. Great ambience, impeccable service and the food never disappoints.
