Looks permanently closed. Too bad, was looking forward to trying food. Eating at Himalayan Delights next door. Food is good so far!

Friendly owners, delicious rice bowl! I found this place while looking to try something new in the Newport/Costa Mesa area. We knew they’re closing soon so I wanted to give them a visit! When we walked in the owner gave us recommendations based on what’s popular since it’s our first time. The rice bowl was really flavorful and delicious! Highly recommend to support them so they can close up for retirement on a high note ?

They’re closing! I shed a tear when I walked out but I’ve been coming here for years. Super happy for them that they’re retiring. You won’t be able to find a better Japanese restaurant in the world! I’ve been coming here since I was 15 and I’m 23 now and live across the country. Still no matter what, when I’m in California I make sure to stop by. They’re the best people and make amazing food. If you have the time to stop by before the 31st and experience it, I couldn’t recommend a restaurant more.

Unfortunately couldn’t rate the food. We dropped in not being locals and the place was empty of customers, but tables were un-bussed. Two workers never came to greet us as we stood at the menu board.

Made the decision to go somewhere else. Maybe it’s great, but just not the day we went.

Just stopped by this place for lunch! I live in the area and just know finding out about Newport Fresh. The FRESHEST sashimi bowl I've ever had. Their homemade rice makes it 100x better. The sweet owners are retiring so the restaurant closes at the end of July. Be sure to stop by before they do!

Newport Fresh is hands down the best place to eat in Orange County! I used to visit all the time when I lived in Newport Beach, and the chicken and egg bowl (medium spicy) and the sashimi bowl (medium spicy) are simply out of this world. If you're looking for a fancy menu or a well decorated place, this isn't it. But if you try one of those two bowls, you'll be mind blown every time.

Sadly, Danny and Monica are retiring and closing down my favorite restaurant at the end of July. They will be legends in OC for years to come. Saying goodbye to Newport Fresh is saying goodbye to the only fish restaurant that truly matters. Bear Flag or Nobu can't even compete. Thank you, Danny and Monica, for all the incredible meals and memories!

Love this place. The quality is amazing and the steak and egg bowl is REALLY SPECIAL. I like fancy restaurants like nobu as well but this is a little hole in the wall gem. Keep it up!

Walked into the restaurant and asked if they make any appetizers. The owner was so rude and said no. I then asked if I could get a California roll and was informed we don’t make. It was the worst customer service experience I’ve ever experienced. They didn’t even offer me a menu.

Would love to support this local business but they have no menu available, so how do I know if I even want to go here? I even called and they said you have to call to find out what’s on the menu. You could’ve easily emailed it to me. I hope this business gets there’s stuff together.
