First time visiting the Newport location after previously dining at the Del Mar restaurant, and we were blown away once again. We came to celebrate my husband’s birthday, and everything from start to finish exceeded expectations.
The service here stood out beyond any other restaurant we’ve tried in Orange County. Our server, Ryan, was absolutely phenomenal—professional, attentive, and knowledgeable. He went above and beyond to guide us through the menu and made fantastic recommendations. (And trust me, we have high expectations!)
The food was incredible—perfectly prepared and full of flavor. The cocktails were equally impressive and crafted with such care. The combination of the outstanding service, delicious food, and great drinks has officially made this our new date night spot.

We had a reservation for my daughter’s birthday and were shocked at how poorly we were treated. The host refused to seat us because he claimed my daughter was wearing sweatpants, which she absolutely was not. She had on nice, comfortable pants and a loose shirt — completely appropriate for a teenager celebrating her birthday.
This kind of rigid, unfriendly attitude is unacceptable. A restaurant that turns away a teenager on her birthday, with a reservation, over something so trivial shows no sense of hospitality or compassion. It was humiliating and ruined what should have been a special evening. Instead of creating a happy memory, we walked away hurt and disappointed. My daughter’s birthday night was taken from her, and as a parent, that is something you don’t forget

Amazing food, beautiful décor, and such a thoughtfully designed seating area! The manager, Rodrigo, is truly the best, he leads his team with professionalism and genuine kindness. From the warm welcome at the door to the cooks in the back, every staff member delivered outstanding service. The food was incredibly fresh and absolutely delicious! I’ll definitely recommend Ocean 48 to all my friends and family! 😀

This was one of the worst and most humiliating experiences I’ve ever had. As a Spanish woman, I was harassed, disrespected, and talked about in a disgusting way by the valet staff at Ocean 48. The shortest valet in particular was extremely rude, unprofessional, and made me feel unsafe.
It is completely unacceptable that a high-end restaurant allows employees like this to treat customers this way. I was there to enjoy my night, not to be mocked and disrespected for who I am. Management needs to take immediate action, because this behavior is shameful and dangerous for guests.

Came here to celebrate with my family, spent $1000 total, 3 people in the party got sick with chills, bad diarrhea and vomiting . All 3 of us had ordered the 45 dry aged ribeye. After checking other reviews from guests here it seems they also had similar experiences. Also when brought to the managers (Rodrigo) attention his solution to the problem was to offer us a faster reservation for the next time. What an absolute joke. I’m not one to ever leave reviews and make the best of every situation but this was terrible.

We were excited to try Ocean 48 for the first time and spent over $1,000 on dinner. Sadly, my fiancé, my brother-in-law, and our friend all became sick afterward vomiting and diarrhea.
I called to inform the manager, Rodrigo, not looking for freebies, but expecting care and responsibility. Instead, I was told they “check meat temperatures every hour” and hadn’t had other complaints. No real concern, no action taken, just an offer to make us a reservation in the future.
For an upscale restaurant, the lack of accountability from management was incredibly disappointing.

When we informed the manager, the only “compensation” offered was a “better reservation time” for a future visit. That’s not just inadequate — it’s insulting. At this level of dining, food safety should be non-negotiable, and customer care should reflect genuine concern when guests’ health is affected.
Not one, but three people left sick. Our evening was ruined, and the aftermath was miserable. A meaningful apology and real compensation (such as a refund for the affected meals or a substantial goodwill gesture) is the bare minimum we would expect from any reputable restaurant — let alone one charging these prices.
This experience left us questioning not only their food safety standards, but also their commitment to taking responsibility when things go wrong.

This place is truly amazing. Every detail whether food, drink, service, or atmosphere is perfect. They use best foods and ingredients and create rich delicious dishes that are so satisfying. Every staff person is extremely friendly and knowledgeable which makes you feel welcomed and taken care of. Finally, the space is very well designed and stimulating. It feel very cool and each area has its own feel. You are going to drop some coin but, you are going to get a lot for it. If you have something special to celebrate or you just want to treat yourself, this is a great choice.
