I was very hesitant on writing this review but living in the world we live today I feel that it needs to be written. The food was very delicious well worth the price. However the service was great until my friend decided to say gracias which means thank you. She apologized to the waitress for speaking Spanish as she was white and the waitress said it was ok as she knew very minimal Spanish enough to talk to the DISHWASHER. That was strike one. Our evening continued and my sister put all the dishes together to be picked up as it would be easier for the person to pick it up. When they were getting picked up the busboy looked at her and said "oh are you in the food industry too" little did they all know we are graduated professional but automatically assumed Hispanics can never eat at a place like this. Like stated before the food was great but will never go back as we all felt very uncomfortable.

For the $700 that we spent, we expected at least our waters to be refilled. The server didn't even clean the table before she brought the birthday cake. On a rainy/windy day, they sat us next to the patio and refused to close the doors. The service was absolutely awful, as it was said on Yelp. We will not go back and will not recommend SET to anyone. Also, when there is an automatic 22% gratuity charge, of course the servers are not willing to attend to the guests much!

$5 Valet parking only. The restaurant is in the Pendry hotel. We set a reservation for the day after Valentine's day around 8pm. We got seated outside, which I would recommend. They had heaters around tables so it wasn't too cold. We got 2 alcoholic drinks: Shiso sunset and mojito. Honestly felt like they didn't even put any alcohol in them. I wouldn't order again. Appetizer: Bluefin tuna pizza. The best dish of the night. The tuna was nice and thin and the crust is light. The ponzu aioli??? Fuego fuego!!! Perfect combo. I would go again and JUST order this lol Entrees: 16oz new york steak and toro toro toro specialty roll. Both were pretty mid, especially for the price. The steak just felt regular, nothing special. Same with the roll. For a place called steak and sushi, you would think these would be their best dishes. Overall, service was good and attentive. Food and drinks were average but super pricey. In my opinion, not worth going again but the vibe is cute for pictures. 5/10

Simon was top tier with her service! The macaroni and rigatoni pasta were delicious and flavorful. Carrot cake was not too sweet and not dry, delicious! Music was great. Overall good time!

My second time dining at this establishment, and I gotta tell you it does not disappoint. My son was visiting from UCLA and I decided to spoil him with fine dining in OC. Our table was ready upon arrival. We requested to be seated outside and boy am I glad I did. We sat indoors the first time I dined there. The whole ambiance, which included the lively music, heaters and lanterns added so much to my dining experience. Out waitress was amazing and frequently checked on us and gave us updates of the food arrivals. We had the surf and turf sushi roll for appetizers and it was delicious, loaded with all the good stuff with little rice , which is how I love my rolls. Caesar salad was loaded with good quality graded parm. We both had steak for dinner and they were prepared exactly like we ordered them. Medium rare. Sides were delicious, wild mushrooms with poached egg. Our waiter suggested we try the truffle potatoes and my son loved them so much. We were stuffed at the end and ordered a carrot cake to go. We shared that this morning with coffee and it was delicious. I'd like you to say a special thank you to the manager who checked on us frequently to make sure everything was to our liking . I'm definitely going back there and highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for someplace special to have dinner or celebrate something.

This restaurant is in a beautiful environment, the patio is lovely. However, the service is so slow, the food is subpar, and it took over 60 minutes to get dinner for two. served to us.... we were starving, so asked for bread to three different people, before we finally got the bread. When we finally got our food, our waiter never checked on us and we needed salt because the food was planned, the server never came back, bad service for sure.

Came yesterday for our anniversary. We had a reservation for 6:30, came in about 10 minutes early and got sat right away. Our waitress was amazing and gave very good suggestions from the menu. We ended up getting the steak set. It came with all three classic steaks (filet, bavette, and new york) and it was delicious. We sat outdoors and it was beautiful (and they keep heaters on outside!). Pricey but great food and service. Very good restaurant overall, we'll be back.

As a vegetarian, it's always nice when fancier restaurants have a good amount of vegetarian options The waiters are so so nice and that was a huge plus. My boyfriend loved his beef and was happy but I thought the gnocchi was okayyy at best. I wasn't the biggest fan of its The veggie roll was good and so was the truffle Mac and cheese. I would try it again to get the rigatoni

I'm not sure if it was all the hoopla surrounding this place, but I have to say that our experience was okay. Realistically a 3.8/5. The service was excellent. The ambiance is good. The food (unfortunately) is average. This is where I felt like they were lacking. Prices are on the higher side of the spectrum, so you'd expect the food to be top notch. It simply wasn't. One small irritant was the need to still pay $15 for valet parking WITH a validation from the restaurant. You'd expect a validation at a restaurant of this caliber to include the valet parking.

Loved this experience dining here! Date night with the hubs in Newport Beach~ we sat at the bar with Brandon and had a blast! Would absolutely recommend him as a bartender the drinks and recommendations were phenomenal. Overall 10/10 experience.
We had such a lovely lunch at SET... Their sushi rolls never disappoint, especially the PNB roll. We also tried their lobster roll and it was super flavorful! The service was great too, our girl was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. I would definitely come back here again for a lunch date with the girls!

I really wanted to love this place. This property is very sentimental, because we had our wedding here five years ago. We are so excited the Pendry bought it and is breathing new life into it! We came here to celebrate our anniversary. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. Our server was lovely. Extremely polite and helpful. But things went south pretty quickly... my husband ordered a scotch listed on the menu that they were out of. He ordered a different scotch, and the bartender clearly poured the wrong one. He gave up and ordered a glass of wine. Their sushi is excellent! Definitely the highlight! We ordered the dry aged rib eye, and asked for it to be prepared at medium. When it arrived, it was basically seared. Completely raw on the inside. We also ordered a side of macaroni and cheese which was pretty good. In honor of our anniversary they brought us carrot cake which was very good, but I think R+Ds is a little better. Yes, the scene is worth seeing... but not sure we would be back. Maybe for drinks and sushi?

Came in for lunch on a Thursday. Beautiful atmosphere. Very clean and classy. I think that's what we basically paid for. My opinion, over hyped and over priced. "Spendy at the Pendry" Favorite dish- surf and turf roll Truffle Mac and cheese, great flavor but then the truffle starts to take over. Tuna pizza was tasty but again the truffle takes over. My daughter didn't love her chicken sandwich. The sea bass tacos lacked flavor. Our server, Sabrina (I think) was great!!! Very sweet person and attentive. We were celebrating my daughter's birthday so they brought out a tasty coconut mousse dessert on top of some sort of fudge covered in crumbs and coconut with a sparkler on top. Very cool! Valet parking is $15 an hour. Restaurant compliments one hour. And of course our lunch took 2 hours which we didn't understand why when they weren't busy to begin with and we found ourselves always waiting for the dishes. I'd like to think we just ordered the wrong items and the other menu choices are better.

Oh my gosh, well worth the wait!! I booked a reservation at the end of January for one of my close friends' birthdays, which was a few nights ago and we had an amazing time! We opted to sit outside and even though it was a bit brisk, were provided with blankets and large heat lamps alongside our table. Service was on point and we were constantly being checked on :) The menu is intimidating because you will take forever to figure out what to order since everything sounds so delicious! We ordered: the bang bang shrimp and tomato burrata for appetizers, the 2-piece sashimi set which came out in a cute display box with an added steamy reveal, gnocchi, the Surf and Turf roll; French fries and the twice-baked potato as sides. For drinks, I started with the Yuzotopia, which was sweet & refreshing and my friend had a quaint pour of Pinot Grigio. We really enjoyed everything and though I wish we ordered some sort of steak entree to offset some of the seafood, there were no complaints (besides my friend feeling meh about the gnocchi, which I didn't try) and the portions were all on the right size. We shared a heaping slice of carrot cake, which was light and just what we needed to finish off a super scrumptious meal! I'm looking forward to coming back again soon!
