This was the only local bar that A. wasn't packed on St. Patrick's day and B. was serving Guinness. My friend and I went to a total of 3 other bars/pubs/alehouses on Saint Patrick's day all so I could have a Guinness on my birthday. This looks to be a local bar where everyone knows everyone based on all the high 5s that were given, and the hugs everyone was giving each other, we even saw a person bring their dogs with them into the back seating area (patio?). The bouncer was the only one who wished me a happy birthday after checking my id at the door, we'd already been to 3 other bars and none of them wished me a happy birthday, so I'm giving them a whole star for that. We had a Guinness but skipped the food as we had already eaten elsewhere. The Guinness was lukewarm, and wasn't poured correctly, would be willing to give it another try and everyone else seemed to be enjoying their beers.

I am a Newport local and have frequented shamrock quite a few times. My gf, a friend, and I went there around 12:30 am Christmas Eve morning. Went inside and had the last drink of the night. After we were finished up around 1:15 am I went outside to call an Uber. As I was looking at my phone ordering an Uber in front of shamrock. I was sucker punched in the side of the head, there were no words exchanged and I do not know what this individual looks like. My gf did get a look at him and apparently he had blonde hair and a white tee shirt, he was with two other guys. I was knocked out and my head hit the curd and I knocked out 3 teeth. During this experience the bouncer who was about 15 ft away from this encounter did absolutely nothing. The morning after I talked to someone who was bartending at shamrock, and she was extremely rude and informed me that shamrock has a no camera policy. Which seems absolutely ridiculous to me when running a dive bar where incidents like this are prone to happening. I would like to find the guy who did this to me and press charges, I could have been killed. Sucker punches like this should not be happening in the safe town of Newport Beach. These guys need to be caught and brought to justice before they end up killing someone. I have made a full police report and I can only hope there is some follow up and if we can catch these idiots, and bring them to justice before they do this to someone else. Newport is a safe place and we cannot allow things like this to happen on our town. Shamrock could definitely use a new bouncer, I believe my gf ripped him a new one after I woke up and she found out that was going to live. I would also greatly appreciate a call from the owner, because I have a few more questions to ask. Please reply here and we will get in contact. Thank you, Josh

A true Irish pub in downtown Newport Beach, right along PCH.... The bartender Jo, is straight outta Ireland (Northen Ireland I tinks... ;) She pours the perfect pint of Guinness and keeps the pub running smoothly.... Good vibes, chill atmosphere to have some pints and watch sports (if that's your thang') Great prices, especially for being in Newport... Parking is easy along PCH, or there's parking in the back also... Always a mandatory stop on our coastal pub crawls... Slainte mo'fos...Drink up.... Slan...

This is a great pub downtown. Inside is your typical pub, no frills just good drinks and live music playing on a Saturday night. Even with a packed bar the multiple bartenders don't have you waiting but more than a couple minutes for your drink order. I really enjoy this pub and they know how to pour a proper Guinness. I definitely will come back when I'm in town.

Great pick for an authentic Irish pub. Food is good and beer is cold. Bartender is from Ireland and has a ton of cool stories. Definitely recommend.

Shamrock is the best Irish pub in Newport Beach. The atmosphere is what you would come to expect at an Irish pub. The staff is from Ireland. The service is excellent and the Guinness is always flowing. This is a great place to watch early morning European soccer matches.
