Sooooo sweet but good to try one time
A naturally sweet treat, no added sugar needed, with a creamy texture reminiscent of banana ice cream. With the right toppings, it becomes even more irresistible.
Their windows sign said open, but it was closed. Like many shops there they were mostly closed. Monday January 5th, 2026
A must if you’re in New Port area! The balboa bars are amazing. I recommend the dark chocolate dip, one side dipped in Heath bar & the other in toasted coconut! The Reese’s crumble dip is also wonderful! Parking is awful. Maybe park off the island and walk on.
The better Balboa Bar—smoother, thicker ice cream bar, more chocolatey tasting chocolate and the toppings are chunkier for an overall better experience (as compared with Dad’s just down the street)
Frozen banana was delicious. Lot of people outside in front enjoying the deserts. Some friendly, some a little snobby.
Great desert
Bananas for life
Iconic. Went here due to a reference in The O.C..
Very nice Balboa bars and frozen bananas.
Great classic Balboa Island treat! This is the place to get your frozen banana, Balboa bar, or other dessert treat!

Fast and friendly service. Delicious treat on the perfect street. Some of us had Balboa bars and some had dipped frozen bananas. Everyone thought it was a great stop.
One of my favorite treats to get when I'm in the Newport area.
Probably one of the most iconic spots at Balboa Island, saw a lot photos posted at this place.
We choose classic frozen banana with dark chocolate dipping, and almond as toppings, turns out, this is a very healthy while delicious dessert 🤤
Yum! I’ve never had a frozen banana before like this and am so glad we stopped by for dessert! The arrested development reference is hilarious. The banana itself is a bit pricey, but great to split between two people. We got the dark chocolate with hot fudge brownie and Reese’s crumbles. I have sensitive teeth so had to wait a little bit to let the banana defrost before comfortably biting into the more frozen parts, but overall it was delicious. It IS messy, so beware! Most of the toppings did fall off too while we were eating it.
