I always get my daughter’s birthday cake at Susie’s. We love the Strawberry Shortcake and Berry Cakes when available during the summer season. Since they don’t have them in October, I thought of trying the pineapple coconut cake. I saw good reviews stating that it’s moist, not too sweet with fresh pineapple. One person said that she buys this cake every year on her birthday…. and so on. So I bought this cake for my mom’s 85th birthday, I was so excited and bragged about it to my guests…I was soooooo embarrassed! It was the total opposite of everything I read on the reviews! It’s so dense, dry, and soooo sweet like the cake you buy at the grocery store. Not worth $99 for a 9” cake. I demand a refund or a replacement at least. I threw it away! Don’t buy the coconut pineapple cake you will regret it!

I was on my way to the beach for my gender reveal when I had an unexpected problem with the cake I bought from another place.
We were just a few hours away from the reveal, which even had a photographer waiting, and I was desperate because I couldn’t afford any delays.

I called SusieCakes hoping they could help me, even though I knew they normally require 24 hours’ notice for custom orders.
The person who answered the phone was incredibly kind and helpful, and offered to make cupcakes instead.
They managed to get them ready in just a few hours and everything turned out perfect! And sooooo delicious!!! 🧁

Unfortunately this is by far the worst birthday cake I have received from a bakery ever. The cake decoration was done nicely - no complaints there. But the cake itself was extremely dry, did not taste fresh OR even up to the standard of a bakery. The icing had a very gritty texture. EXTREMLY disappointing when the cake is priced at 74 dollars - for a 6 inch cake. Ridiculous. Overall 1/10 experience. Would not recommend. Go to your local family owned or small business bakery for your treats.

Went in and purchased a cake for my dad’s birthday and purchased two cupcakes and everything was dry and unenjoyable. We didn’t even finish the cake and felt awful as he was looking forward to a cake from Susie’s cakes.

For years, Susie Cakes has been my must-visit destination in So Cal. I’m constantly telling people about it. I’ve even made the pilgrimage in No Cal. Sadly, yesterday for my birthday, we came to town and they sold me three of the driest slices I’ve ever had from them. It was definitely more than a day old! Super disappointed.

We were here in the summer and it was also not as good as it has historically been. The vanilla celebration cake was…I don’t know… bisquity? It was like it wasn’t mixed right.

Not sure what’s going on… are sales down so the cakes sit around longer? New recipes? standards? Bummed, but $9/slice for dry cake doesn’t work.

My friend and I bought two slices ($17.00+) lemon and coconut. Both slices were too dry and too sweet (not our preference). Both slices tasted the same= sugar. We couldn’t eat the rest of it. Service was good. However,the order in which customers are served could be improved. Store is clean. Would be hesitant to come back.
