Topside is such a fun rooftop bar in Newport. I missed the sunset when I went last weekend but the view from up there is still beautiful. They have a DJ playing mellow tunes, low-key and relaxing, though requests are not allowed and the volume stays moderate. The crowd is a nice mix of old and young, giving it a lively yet chill vibe.
We were seated right under the heat lamp so it was surprisingly warm and cozy. The Photo Booth added an extra element of fun to the night. Drinks and snacks were great too, perfect for a casual evening with friends. Definitely recommend checking it out.

Fun rooftop bar with a very good drink menu. It can get a bit sunny and they could use some more umbrellas up there. Food was very good, but the menu is super limited if you’re trying to find an entrée. The guac was tasty and nicely presented. The tuna was not all that tasty – not sure exactly why it was neither clean cut like sushi nor minced like a typical appetizer. Seating was comfortable, so I give them kudos for that. Didn’t detect any music, but that could’ve been because there was a large group of very loud drunk folks next to us.

I wanted to share some feedback about my recent visit, specifically regarding a concerning experience with a food allergy. While the view was lovely and the food overall was decent, I was served steak skewers that unexpectedly had almonds on them. Since I have a nut allergy, this was alarming, especially because there was no indication of nuts on the menu. When I brought it up to the server, she mentioned that she had informed management about this issue before, but no action had been taken to update the menu or address the concern.
Food allergies are serious, and it’s disappointing that this hasn’t been handled with more care. Clear labeling on the menu or proper communication could prevent a potentially dangerous situation for someone with severe allergies. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and makes the necessary changes to ensure a safer dining experience for all guests.

I’ve been living in America for over 10 years, originally from Korea, and I had a disappointing experience with the host during my recent visit. We made a reservation, and despite the restaurant being nearly empty, the host insisted on seating us tucked away in a corner with no view at all. We ended up having to ask a different staff person to change our table. It was my birthday, and this treatment really upset me. It’s disheartening to see that, even in California, some people still exhibit such behavior.

Absolutely gorgeous view. We spent an evening here and it was a great experience. The food was great, very tasty. We watched the sunset from the deck, and it was absolutely beautiful. Great spot to have a date as well. Great service, highly recommended.

Asked her if we could move and she answered me from far away without giving a reason. Sat there for almost ten minutes without a server checking on us or serving us a glass of water. Whenever the server approached us, she didn’t greet us. All she wanted was rush to take our order. I am not the type of person to write reviews but whenever you go a beautiful/fancy place like this, the least you expect is a five star service but this place’s service really disappointed.

We booked a reservation but the host at the front said resy app is not accurate so they didn’t have our table ready at that time and the wait will be 1.5 hours. I found this odd because there were tons of open tables available. 10 minutes later I received a note saying our table is available but by this time we already booked a table at a nearby restaurant. Not sure why they told us there was a 1.5 hour wait and that our reservation in resy was not right?Besides the service at the host desk, we had a drink at the bar that was good and the atmosphere was nice

This place is a vibe specially at night!Service is Meh, it takes a long time to do anything, bring a blanket, bring the drinks or appies , or they forgot to turn on the heater after 3 times that we all asked, but the location, view, music , atmosphere is just amazing! In traveling from canada and will def come back here again ! They dont offer actually main food but have 5 diff appies and a variety of drinks, you cant park your car, must use Valley for $14, amazing for a group of friend hang out or date
