The a la carte was super overpriced for what we received. The food was decent enough, and the staff was friendly, but it just wasn't worth the price. Maybe the teppan experience is better, but we probably won't come back.

I had an absolutely horrible customer service experience with this restaurant! For a client lunch I ordered a large order the day before for pickup. When I arrived at the time stated on my receipt, they claimed they didn't have the order because they never checked their online orders for that day. Then the host told me that it would take over two hours for the order. He was rude and told me I shouldn't order through DoorDash. I in fact ordered directly from the restaurants website. They shouldn't partner with DoorDash if they aren't going to fulfill their agreement. They put me in a stressful bind but they also lost out on a $500+ order! I do not recommend this restaurant!!!

Food is exceptional with very high-grade quality fish. Sushi chefs always have a specialty offering of the day. Service staff is always friendly, even when they are very busy during lunchtime. Looking forward to dining on the other side of the sushi bar where they offer teppan tables for groups.

Fantastic convenient location and consistent product, with high quality sashimi and rolls, although recommend avoiding the ones with California roll base, little boring and basic . Enjoy coming here quarterly!

I have been coming to this restaurant for over a decade. The lunchtime staff is terrific, but never in my life I have I ever been treated more rude by a wait staff than the nighttime shift. They clearly didn’t want us there and were blasting music from the kitchen and made it very clear they wanted us to get out. No one approached us to seat us and gave us attitude when we asked if there was someone who could help. Do not come here for dinner. Such a shame for what I considered to be a Newport establishment.
I'm pretty shocked at the score this place has considering both times I have been here it's been amazing! the service and the food the rice quality is 10/10 sushi for me personally who is so cal raised Iv had my fair share lived many places 8.5/10 so far this is the second best place iv been the servers 10/10 our waiters are so nice we had a lady once and a young man tonight he was so nice and pleasant the service in 2023 has declined almost everywhere so it was refreshing yellowtail jalapeño app 10/10 crispy rock 10/10 garlic edamame 10/10 jake was the best server iv had in a long time thanks jake!

I came for dinner on a Monday night with my friend. We did an omakase and sat at the bar. The sushi chefs were so attentive and customized the omakase as I said I do not like salmon. All the cuts of fish were so fresh and absolutely delicious!! My friend and I ordered some hand rolls to finish the meal. I had a spicy tuna hand roll and it was so fresh and flavorful. The wait staff were very attentive and removed plates from our table and filled our water periodically. All in all, it was a great experience at Wasa! I would definitely come back again!
