We were sad to hear that Lou's was going to be closing not to long ago. But we were extremely happy they were able to stay open. Love this place. Would 100% rather spend our money with Lou's than mcdonalds or jack in the box.

I was there lately and met up with a bunch of friends that graduated from Highlands High in 1964 and 65. We used to eat at Lou's way back then. The service is great, and the grilled foot long was very good

As an Old-Fashioned Hamburger establishment, Lou's is definitely something to rave about. It is amazingly tasty and definitely worth the visit. As a Bay Area native, I’m proud to say Lou’s has my vote hands down!

There’s “hole-in-the-wall” bars and there’s “hole-in-the-wall” burger joints. Lou’s is absolutely just that. It might not be as fancy and sparkly as an In&Out but the burgers more than compete. The shakes with fresh fruit and syrups … FAR SURPASS the 3 little options at other burger places.
As for the fries… we know that other place has them “animal style” to cover up the fresh cut but limp and bland flavor.
The owners are there most days but all the staff are great. They know their regulars by name but greet everyone like family.

Not much going on here in the "atmosphere" department. Food took over 30 minutes to make. You can't pay over $100 here with your card for the exact amount of your order. My total came out to $112.xx. They had to charge my card for a total of $115 and then give me back the difference in cash. It was weird. There's a $1.25 fee for using your debit card here (no problem paying that as they're a small business who probably gets charged a lot for their ability to take debit cards). The mention of the fee was more for informational purposes. The food bags were a bit overloaded and tipped over while standing up which messed up our burgers. The taste was decent, but the burgers were messy and fell apart making them a pain to eat.

Wow, this is 2nd time in the past month I have been disappointed with the burgers. The onion rings were a shade of burnt I've never seen. I have been a Lou's customer since the 80s and there is definitely a difference in the food depending what staff are working. It will be a while before I try it again.

My Hubs always stops by here when he's coming home from the bay area. Honestly their burgers are pretty tasty and their milkshakes are so thick it's hard to suck up from the straw. This burgers joint is a Sacramento staple.

Sad to see a legendary place serving such lackluster food. The staff was borderline rude, the burgers sucked (overcooked), the shake sucked, and they serve fries you get in the frozen section of a grocery store

Old school drive in... done right. If you're accustomed to the homogenized sameness of McWendyKingStar joints like this may throw you for a loop. They make food without computers telling when the fries are done just so or machines spitting out a milk "shake". They usually get it right and sometimes beyond right, occasionally... not so much. They mostly make it their way but are open to simple requests. There is no app or drive thru and bring cash, inside dining is usually closed but the "patio" is always available. Locally owned and operated these folks work hard to put out good food at reasonable $$. Go with an open mind and enjoy hamburgers pre McCorporate.

A total flashback in time to the days of burger stands. Great hamburgers, awesome crinkle cut fries and amazing milkshakes guarantee a great meal and feeling like you're taking a DeLorean on a little time trip!

I used to come here when I was a little girl all the time. I remember the food & service was great. After all these years I decided to come by today for lunch. I was beyond disappointed. The burger was okay. It was about 10$. The fries were over cooked, basic crinkle cuts that were not salted. They cost 5$ for a medium. I also got a medium milkshake which was 6$ and it was very watery. Overall, my lunch was over 20$, and did not taste great. There were no other customers and the lady working was very impatient; rushing me to order. Very disappointed with the price I paid and the experience I had.
