Avoid signing up for the meal plan here. The quality and variety of food decline significantly over time. Initially, they enforce strict cancellation deadlines, after which they cut costs—serving fewer options, repeating meals, and lowering food standards. I even fell ill from eating there, which negatively impacted my studies.
At $680 per month, the meal plan is a complete rip-off, especially since dorm students (without kitchen access) are forced into it. Once you check in, there's no guarantee of decent food. I strongly recommend exploring outside dining options for better quality and value in the long run.
(I signed up my meal plan here because I had no roommates (of my country) in my 1st semester to cook with.)
I really hope that students have other choices to eat. When we visited, I really wished they would have allowed us to take a look at their buffet before paying for it. The food was very dry and flavorless. You could tell it had been sitting there for a loooog time. The choices were very limited. Total disappointment 😞. Would NOT be going back.

Payed way too much for a meal plan to get this quality of food. Terrible food options, inconsiderate of students needs for decent meals. I never leave GMOs feeling nourished.
only been once but there wasn’t much food and barely any dessert…
Food is horrible and isn’t cooked right at times. I have a nut allergy and they have foods that contain nuts with no warning signs. Not only have I gotten allergic reactions from the food, but I have gotten food poisoning as well. Sometimes I will go to GMO’s and they will not even have food. It’s overpriced and not worth it whatsoever.

not as good as i expected
Chef Bryan has 25 years of "experience" yet the food he serves is horrible! There had been reports of students getting sick or food poisoned and the food he puts out is absolutely horrible! Do I eat there at times? Yes, but I have to be careful and pray that I don't get sick from the food. (Also one time they had runny ranch sauce and it looked like glue *metaphorically speaking* and I got diarrhea from it for an hour, it sucked).

The food is not good here at all, I've never finished a plate out of the 2 years I've been at csun. I usually just end up eating fries for dinner every night because that's the only decent thing they have. Any other time I have tried to eat their food I've gotten a stomachache.

This place is weird. One day they’ll have some genuinely good food and the next it’s inedible. They also have a habit of getting rid of the best and most consistent food options - they used to have a Mexican area that would always have decent rice, beans, meat, and tortillas or chips but they removed it for some reason. Same with sushi - it wasn’t anything special but it was okay and they got rid of it.Keep in mind, at around 4:30 pm they get rid of all the food for a half hour to prepare for dinner, which is ridiculous. One thing that’s nice is they have a dedicated allergen free section for people with food allergies, which is great for me because I can’t have gluten. I can’t in good faith recommend you eat here though because it’s usually not very good. Last note - if you don’t go to college at CSUN, keep in mind if you go here you’ll be surrounded by college kids while you eat. It’s up to you if that’s a good or a bad thing.

Hector yelled at me after I told him I didn’t like the food here. I had diarrhea after. Not fun. Too many Mexicans there too. That ruined the vibe for me.
