I pulled up at 8:30pm just now and they turn off the OPEN lights as I parked my vehicle. I would never ever recommend any business like this when it says 9pm closing time. How rude…
We are regulars at Hirosa. I highly recommend their nigiri and many of their rolls, including the Hitachi and Hirosa rolls.
I have consistently been pleased with their exceptional service, flavors, quality and generous servings.
Been coming here several years and have never been disappointed! Don’t change, Hirosa!
Avoid this place if you like any type of chicken. Just had dinner here and wish I had made a better choice. Worst Teriyaki chicken I have ever had. Service was great. Definitely not coming back.
The eggplant dish was burning hot. They should know that eggplants will keep lots of heat and stick it to your mouth. I suggest they cook it and eat it themselves before serving it to customers. Their Nasumiso is chopped up into squares and served in a bowl instead of the actual nasumiso where it is halved eggplant with skin intact and grilled equivalent of Mexican chile relleno or Filipino tortang talong the veggie is grilled so it is not so damn hot and full of sauce. The first bite burnt my tongue. I waited for 10 minutes and it was still super burning hot like I was eating burning coal. The waitress ignored me 3 times when I said it is hot. The waiter later came and was being defensive and said they make food nice and hot but burning tongue hot? Come on. The Northridge roll was salty and they covered it with lots of sweet taste which turned out super disgusting. The plate has some hot shrimp covered with white sauce kelpi mayo that looked like bird poop. Again. Cold sushi mixed with hot shrimpy slime made the sushi taste unpleasant. I tried to finish the sushi roll because I was hungry coming back from my gun training. but threw up when I got home. I barely ate the #17. The beef steak was too chewy to the point I just can't eat it anymore and the sashimi was not cold. They tried to cover it with sesame, onions and two pieces got a lemon slice in between. I have never seen any sashimi master do that. It is always served immediately cold without tempered garnish on the sashimi. If there is any garnish, it is ice. Yet the beef doesnt havw garnish other than a piece of leaf. This is also a closed kitchen the chef looks like a middle-aged woman. It is not Asian owned. The rice was mushy non-Japanese style. More of your local Mexican Spanish rice style without the Spanish spice. Filipino style more likely. I gave them one star for the shrimp tempura and the miso soup. The Wasabi was darker than usual I suspect it was from the cheap Wasabi tubes. No Wasabi stamping art--Just a squeeze. The waitress also put the food all over the place. Didn't take any control of the situation. The waiter said she is new staff. I It was utmost unpleasant experience specially my tongue got burned. I have passed by this shop dozens of times but I will keep passing this place and also all of my friends have been warned. I thought this is a hidden gem but the ratings here is indeed hyped. Not a 4.6 but 2.9 is more realistic. Please hone your skill and actually learn to cook correctly with open kitchen. The waiter took off the nasumiso for me but at this point I didn't care I just wanted to leave immediately and go home because I was disappointed. It is just so unfair the Pakistani restaurants across serves seriously real good food but they don't have as many customers as this fake sushi shop.
A true hidden gem …. No fuss or pretentious atmosphere, just really good food and very friendly service.
All about the great food, simple decor, no fuss, but really dang good food!!! I love the new specials that are kind of like sides. The spinach with garlic tempura sauce is an incredible flavor bomb dish. Shitake sautee was fabulous too! As a vegetarian, I found many options, and I believe they might be able to accommodate dietary restrictions and simple changes. Family owned and operated, hidden gem.
Decided to give this a try when I was looking for Katsuya's alternative since they went downhill lately. Aside from the horrible parking and somewhat dodgy area, the food was quite tasty and the price reasonable! This is one of those joints that tells you not to judge a book by its cover.
Excellent Sushi! The Grilled Calamari appetizer is #1!

Use to really enjoy this place when their prices match the quality of the food they used. Pricing of food keeps going up and is not on par with the quality or with other restaurants.

The first time, dinner service, we went everything was good. Service, food and it was just a lil too quiet with no music or anything. The second time, lunch service, we got wrong items, we got poorly prepared sushi that was falling apart, we could hear the staff arguing/getting frustrated with each other. The food just smelled...weird when we packed it up too.Idk what to say except maybe go during dinner service. It was a night and day experience.
