This place is filthy. I have been there a couple of times and both times experienced a large number of flies inside swarming on the food and tables, so bad I had to go outside were there were none. Outside there are dogs tied up and standing on top of the tables. The floor inside is dirty and had tufts of dog hair everywhere, and clearly has not been cleaned in days. No one seems to want to clean the inside of this place, which stopped me from ordering something from the kitchen. It is a good location for locals, but I wouldn’t eat from there.

Veteran's Day today, and this place was off the hook busy. It took a while for my (unbelievably delicious) egg sandwich to come out, but when it did, it came with a sincere apology from Pat and a gift card for the delay. Coffee was amazing too! Would/will recommend!
This place has potential, but unfortunately the food and overall experience fell short. The kale salad arrived without any kale, and the chicken sandwich was overcooked to the point of being burnt. For the prices they charge ($15 for a sandwich that only comes with a small bag of chips) you’d expect much better quality. The staff also seemed disengaged and uninterested in being there, which didn’t help the atmosphere. Overall, it was a disappointing visit and not worth the price.

Honestly a very confusing experience.
Food:
- my wife loved the enormous Spicy Poke bowl, which was the star of the show
- The Brussels sprouts and Mac and cheese were both mundane and drastically overpriced
- Smoothies and coffee were both good
- They were out of a lot of items
Vibe:
- Felt like it was trying to do too much. 4 huge TVs were a distraction for our child in the main room where a guy was constantly asking for channel changes.
- Outdoor seating was nice, but you’re in a strip mall parking lot.

I was surprised by how good the food was. I will return when I'm in the area.

We peddled on over to Trailhead for lunch. The pulled pork sandwich hit the spot and washed it down with a refreshing lemonade. The BLT on focaccia bread had a bit too much bread, good amount of bacon but needed maybe a bit more of the lettuce and tomatoes. Slaw was a bit tart for my liking. It’s a great spot to come to after a hike, bike ride or workout. Nice view and people watching.

We live in the San Marin neighborhood in Novato and really really wanted to make this our usual neighborhood spot. Unfortunately it’s just too overpriced for what you get on all accounts and a bit of a gamble. From breakfast/coffee to lunch/beers; It’s all objectively 20%-30% too much. It went from ‘we’ll be here regularly’ to realizing ‘it’s a real treat as an expense and not worth it when food is hit or miss’. We’ve had food where we’ve said it substantiated a $18-$20 pesto chicken sandwich (sandwich only, no drink, post tax & tip), and had times were the food/topping portion was so bad and a rip-off we swore to never come back. Sandos are made in front and put in a subway style toaster for quick heating. $6+ coffees and $8+ beers are not the answer either. The focaccia bread is generally exceptional, everything else is mid-tier at best. There appears to be a high turnover of cooks/staff that may allude to the differing service quality. I’d say “check it out if you’re in a pinch and hungry after a local hike on Burdell”. Otherwise I’d say go next door to the market and get a made-to-order sandwich from the deli for $10 and a Pliny for less than the cost of a sandwich at Trailhead.
It is scary because I really believe the place would be slam packed if they just lowered their prices $3-6 on everything (ie, margins), had $7 beers/happy hour, and/or offered the high schoolers a cheap lunch deal and they’d solve low engagement and imminent turnover.

My date loved the pesto chicken wrap and is is very picky. She raved. That’s rare.
Burger 🍔 was very mid and I understand that gas grills aren’t easy but you can’t depend on a laser thermometer to tell you when the meat is cooked. When there’s zero char marks and the meat is barely even cooked that’s not great. The secret sauce was imperceptible and the bun was soggy after a minute or so.
I get it’s aged to run a business and this place has some attractive attributes. Pesto wrap for the win.

Beyond burger was super dry and boring but coffee was good, staff was friendly, and atmosphere was nice and local feeling - and why does one leave the house really? :)
