I've been coming here since it opened and surprised that you can get such a high quality dining experience in the shopping plaza location that it's in.This is a testament to its owner/founder, Munther. You can tell he sweats the details and it all pays off. The ambiance is what you'd expect of a boutique steakhouse. It features icons of yesteryear and backs it up with top notch service that you don't find anymore. The soft piano in the background is a really nice touch and makes you forget that you are in a chaotic shopping plaza.The quality of meal is really top notch. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. I've had their pork chop (amazing), Tomahawk (amazing as well but bring a date) and of course the ribeye are, you guessed it, AMAZING!I love their sides too. The creamed spinach is a wonderful treat, truffle fries, whipped potatoes and the roasted Yukon potatoes are killer. Dont forget the side of green beans!Anyhoo, if your in the South Novato area and want an unexpected fine dining experience, dont hesitate to look up the Board Room!Parking: This shopping plaza is chaotic at times lol”

My only grievance is that when you get miso soup to go, they put it in a container that has a small hole in the lid and they do not double bag that container so by the time you get home most of the soup has sloshed into the bag that holds the full order. There is a reason this place is packed during lunch amongst the two high schools it's great quantity and quality for the price. Not to mention the workers there are extremely kind and welcoming.”

“My pal'et Chapstick Betty just got out of the hospital with a cast on her foot because she didn't pay attention in paratrooper school and landed incorrectly. She calls me and asks if I can bring her a salad from The Village Italian Restaurant. Sure, I tell her...I'll leave Napa right now, go to Navato to pick up a salad from The Village Italian Restaurant, and bring it all the way out to you in West Marin. The salad sure looked great, and Chapstick was her typical self...she gave me 6 dollars for my time.6 whole dollars!The salad was ☆☆☆☆☆ delicious.”

He joked with us, brought us a beautiful charcuterie board, and told us a few stories about the bar and its patrons. We had a lovely visit, and my step mom was very impressed, which was important. We've been back many times, and we love their wines.”

My husband got the caldo, chicken soup and that portion is also on the large side. The owner and staff are so kind and friendly, nice atmosphere. The little store attached has some Mexican and Central-American groceries and other food items.”

“We recently hosted our company Holiday party in the banquet room at Trek Winery. The room was perfect, plenty of space to mingle and plenty of seating. There are wine barrels lining the walls, a large stage area on one side of the room and a bar area on the other. Food was provided by Trek and it was amazing, the tri-tip and chicken were great. Kids and adults approved! The staff was very helpful in setting up, providing all the place settings, tables, drinks, food, glassware, microphone, music, etc. If you are looking for an easy venue to host an event with little to no stress of planning I highly recommend Trek Winery.”

We were not disappointed; a little tricky to find, the place has the full Perry's style with white tiled floor in the bar, mahogany furniture, friendly attentive service.We were seated in the back room with a high ceiling and looking out onto a hillside. Convivial atmosphere,busy with several large group tables. Perry himself came over to say hello and was unhurriedly working the room; a nice touch. His daughter who works there also came by.For me the food at Perry's is ok, not special and so it was that day. I had fish & chips and my friend a chicken salad.It was however the perfect rainy day to linger over lunch and enjoy the atmosphere.”

While bummed that my favorite Chinese restaurant doesn't deliver to this side of town, I was happy to learn that Green Bamboo does, and it's still family owned and operated; including DELIVERY! I'd started my order via Yelp, but the price was outrageous, so I called the restaurant, and the owner told me she does deliver and even mentioned some of my neighbors who she delivers to! I haven't been to the restaurant in many years, but used to eat at Green Bamboo many years ago. I kept it simple, sweet and sour chicken, vegetable rice and spring rolls. The sween and sour chicken was not to my liking, there was a metalic taste to the sauce and pineapple, and it was not as crispy as I like. The vegetable fried rice was delicious! There were a lot of good sized pieces of veggies in the rice and it was flavorful. The spring rolls were crispy and the filling was fresh and delicious! The bonus fifth star is because they personally deliver your food, it's not a second or third party/business. The owner was so kind when she arrived, she wore a mask (I appreciate covid or any health safety practices from restaurants or delivery people) and she recognized me from years ago. Great customer service and I'll order again.”

“Too busy to have our usual Burger Friday, so we did Burger Saturday. Haven't been here for a few years since the new owners took over from JJ's. I had the single (pepper Jack) cheeseburger with mayo and pickles, and my husband had a single classic burger with mayo, lettuce, onion, and tomato. Both burgers were excellent, very flavorful, and arrived quickly. Next time I would order mine medium rare though. Their default setting seems to be medium which is how my husband likes his. He also had fries and a chocolate shake. The fries were exceptional - crispy and salty. His milkshake got a thumbs up. Super nice people behind the counter. The perfect burger place, nothing fancy, just good. Prices are reasonable too. We'll be back!”
“THIS IS SPECIFICALLY FOR THE DRIVE-UP IN DOWNTOWN NOVATO. I go here every morning before work. It's great. The baristas are super nice and very friendly. Coffee is very, very good. I honestly think I like the seasonal flavors at Marin Coffeen Roasters more than Starbucks'. The toasted marshmallow lattee is to die for. Its not candy coffee like Starbucks. Marin Roasters strikes a perfect balance between flavor and coffee, so youre still tasting coffee as well as flavoring. Pastries are also surprisingly good. Coffee is the same price as Starbucks.As far as "atmosphere", I go to the South Novato Blvd location which is a drive-up so there isnt really much atmosphere to be had to begin with which is why my atmosphere rating is 3 stars, but its still pretty cute. Do NOT take the 3 stars for atmosphere as a negative, its literally just because this specific location is a drive up building. The coffee place before them was also a drive up. The building they happen to occupy is specifically designed for drive up coffee. Also, they take walk-up orders and have dog treats. I don't know why they wouldn't do walk-up, but its still worth mentioning cause you can grab a coffee and a treat for your dog if you're on a walk.The Ignacio and San Anselmo location however ARE sit down cafes, but I've never been there. “Had to go out to SP Taylor Park with Bodiddly Pete to ramicate the Bossinlakers they got on the north side of their Clumping Hedgerow before it gets in the creek, and only had time for a quick little breakfast.Bodiddly says Sam's Place is the best breakfast joint in Marin county, so I did a Lickity Split and went straight there. Special shout out to Maribel, last time I was there there was a dude in the restaurant who was absolutely unhinged and angry and yelling and cursing (specifically at Maribel) which was completely unwarranted and even still she kept a smile on her face for everyone else in the restaurant and drive through. I was worried he would make a complaint about the situation so I’m here to counteract that and hopefully corporate will see this and not punish anyone for some unhinged dudes bad day.”

“I love Whole Foods at any town I am in. I go there specially for cruelty free products. They can be expensive, but it's gotten better since they were bought by Amazon. This one has a parking garage which is nice as the parking in downtown Novato isn't always the easiest at peak times of the day. It's comfortable and has a definite small town vibe in comparison to some of the other bigger Whole Foods in other cities. You can shop smartly here and not but the bank. I can't always find everything I'm looking for, but I always find something I WASN'T looking for. Lol.”
“When we lived in the City, we'd go to Perry's on Union Street for burgers and the jolly, friendly atmosphere. Moving to Marin we'd go to Perry's in Larkspur occasionally; we were not eating out as much then with a young family but always enjoyed it when we did.Retiring in W Marin our eating out is primarily in Petaluma and I've been meaning to try Perry's in Novato ever since I read about its opening.With its central location and Perry's reputation it seemed a good choice for lunch with an old friend. We were not disappointed; a little tricky to find, the place has the full Perry's style with white tiled floor in the bar, mahogany furniture, friendly attentive service.We were seated in the back room with a high ceiling and looking out onto a hillside. Convivial atmosphere,busy with several large group tables. Perry himself came over to say hello and was unhurriedly working the room; a nice touch. His daughter who works there also came by.For me the food at Perry's is ok, not special and so it was that day. I had fish & chips and my friend a chicken salad.It was however the perfect rainy day to linger over lunch and enjoy the atmosphere.”

“This Taco Bell is located conveniently next to the Novato Goodwill store. I went to drop off some donations and was able to easily drive through and get a quick bite. Although I cook Mexican food from family recipes, there are plenty of items I love at Taco Bell. My favorite taco is the cheesy Gordita crunch. I also love pairing my Taco Bell with a Baja Blast. Did you know you can get Taco Bell on Door Dash in San Francisco? I also order a side of pintos and cheese and cinnamon twists. Another favorite and filling dish is the crunch wrap supreme. I usually get a lot of hot sauce and put a little on each bite.”

“This is a great hidden gem in Novato for mostly ice cream and a few snack foods. Here, I have discovered that Taki's & ice cream go very well together - what can I say tho because Im a spice fanatic! What's fantastic is that there is a Mexican grocery store right next-door where you can purchase produce, and some other Mexican foods. Happened to come here on an evening following an art party at studio for art, it was perfect for the elementary school kids to get some ice cream, have their birthday party cake and the art on the walls makes it a perfect photo scene for great pictures. Staff were super accommodating to our large group. They have so many unique ice cream flavors here and also some custom-made desserts that will blow your mind. I love coming to this ice cream shop, and I've never been disappointed with their quality and customer service.”

Normally I don't like to make people go through the trouble of correcting my order, but eel is very difficult for me to eat (for reasons related to my speech impairment).The chirashi don was not only delicious but also beautifully presented. And, I often rate restaurants by whether I feel extremely thirsty afterwards (in my mind, a sign of overuse of salt or other seasoning), and with Matsuyama, I did not have this problem.This was my first visit, with my partner's family, and we all had a great time and very much enjoyed the food. “It was our first meal out (January 6) after the new year and decided to come to Blacksteer for our dinner. We actually had a very nice grand meal that felt quite decadent. We dined on their rib eye steak, shared some New England clam Chowder, had their Crab & Mozzarella hush puppies, oysters Rockafeller, and their Bordenave's sourdough bread with garlic. It was all very delicious! We sat at a booth across from the bar and our server was super kind and very patient despite how crazy full and busy the restaurant was that night. We love the new renovations and the ambience and it felt like a very lively happening place to be in Novato for a Saturday night. We will certainly be back to enjoy more meals.”

We were seated right away and all the food was brought to the table at the same time-which is not easy to to do for a party our size. The food/service was great and we didn't feel rushed.
