I met him while selling at a local farmers market a while ago-during or right after the pandemic. “I love Saigon Village and have been coming with my vegan family for years. They have so many options with fake meats, and vegetable broth for pho. The owners are very sweet and can make modifications for almost everything on the menu. I would especially recommend the tofu bahn mi with no mayo, the vegetarian beef pho, and the coconut juice straight from a coconut! So good. Updated from previous review on 2026-08-20“

“After moving to San Anselmo in 1996, I finally visited M.H. Bread and Butter, drawn in by the crowds. Ms. Jenny, the manager, suggested trying the lemon bread, Queen Aman, raspberry croissants, and 'medium country' bread. Brahim, the owner's brother, highlighted the positives of working there. The area's connections to the Grateful Dead, Metallica, and Huey Lewis and the News and was at one time Bonnie Raite an Santana's residence make it even more special.“

The "fried chicken" crafted from oyster mushrooms was a standout, mimicking the savory satisfaction of traditional chicken, even my grandfather loved it. The vegan pasta Alfredo showcases their skill in creating flavorful plant-based dishes as well. I love that the menu continually evolves, Veegee's impresses as a top-tier vegan spot, rivaling even the best in LA.“

“I don’t want to ruin this classic San Anselmo business’ income, but in lieu of a website or email address, I’m compelled to leave this public review in hopes that ownership sees it. You guys are over roasting your African beans to a criminal degree. Yirgacheffe and Tz pea berry are such delicate, complex beans, with so many floral / fruity / light flavors, that roasting them within an inch of their lives completely misses their point. Far be it from me to tell someone else how to run their business, but as someone with a deep knowledge of and passion for single origin light roast coffees, you guys shouldn’t do this to your (very expensive) Ethiopian and Tanzanian beans. Dark roast the other stuff. I’m sure most people want that. But please light roast those beans. I’m throwing away the one pound bag of yirgacheffe I bought yesterday, heartbroken at how burnt and undrinkable it is. For reference: V60 / medium ground / tetsu kasuya pour method. Side note: incredibly kind staff, and old school San Anselmo charm. Just burnt beans.“

“The staff at this Subway are awesome. I came in at 9:30pm to order 17 six-inch subs for a student field trip, not realizing the store closed at 10pm (online it said it was open until 1am). Adrienne the girl at the counter was soooo nice to agree to make all the sandwiches, which ended up making her clock out late. She saved the day! The field trip with the kids was a hit and they loved their sandwiches.After I left I realized I accidentally left my credit card in the card reader (tired teacher). Alex F the morning guy kept my card safe for pick up after I got off work. You just don't find kind, honest, and hardworking people like Adrienne and Alex that often anymore.I believe the manager's name is Mr. Sunil.If you read this Sunil, you have two superstar employees working for you! “Barton’s is my go-to morning stop on the way to work. I’m there a lot, and it never disappoints. My regular order is the lox sandwich — about ten bucks and you get a fantastic toasted bagel loaded with all the good stuff. The bagels are consistently excellent, the cream cheese options are all great, and their espresso is top-notch. On top of that, the staff is always friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend if you want a quality bagel and coffee to start your day.“

“This is a charming cafe with a sweet outdoor patio! What a hidden gem! The baked goods are amazing and homemade by Armida! They do homemade sandwiches to order, have savory and sweet baked goods! Try the bacon/egg/maple syrup bun or the veggie pocket! There is ample indoor space to sit and sip. There are also books and puzzles for bringing your child, and with the outdoor space, an ideal child friendly cafe for a bite to eat.

“Visited for the first time and have to admit I was wary because of the reviews. Ended up talking with the owner for a few minutes and he was incredibly friendly. He's been running the place for 40 years. We talked about the history of the establishment and how he got into the gelato business. No rudeness and delicious gelato. The small seating area in the back was very nice for our small group. I would highly recommend it and plan to go back often.“

“Been going here for the past year and have been so impressed with every experience. Their bread is baked fresh daily, sandwiches are made with that personal touch and the cooler is stocked with a plethora of great choices. They have beer on tap, an outdoor patio area seated away from the bustle of the main road, solid Wi-Fi and plug-ins. My personal favorite is the Lostrami on Dutch Crunch.“
