Jazzmo Pete and I had spent the whole day out at Bill Halsey's Hangin Balls Ranch separating the Bulls from the Cows and Heffers into their winter pastures, and we were beat, cold and wet from the coastal fog. Jazzmo, an Italian at heart says let's go into town and have a big bowl of pasta and a couple bottles of Chianti, well that was enough for me, so off we went. ...Smelling like old west cowboys I was sure we'd get kicked out of any place we went into, but Jazzmo had a quart bottle of some sort of hipster stuff that'll take the smell off a litter box! And it worked! We went to La Gastronomia di Porchetta Restaurant and had about the best Italian food in the Bay Area!

“love love love it here! my mom and I stayed in fairfax for a whole week and we ate here several times. food is amazing, atmosphere is amazing, staff is amazing. special shout out to our main man Ty who remembered us by name and was always super fun and friendly every time we came in. he may even play you a few songs on his guitar if you’re lucky. this place was definitely a highlight of our trip and i’ll miss going there when we leave. we could also tell that this place is a huge hit with the locals which is always nice to see. thanks for all of the great food, drinks, conversations, and songs Barefoot Cafe! until next time! -Ebony”

“The impossible laarb banh mi was so spicy but full of flavor. Super happy that the boba drink was available with oat milk, it helped relieve the burn from the delicious banh mi. Theres beautiful parks in Fairfax downtown that are walking distance, plus this would be the perfect thing to grab for a jaunt to Pt Reyes or other outdoor trails nearby.”

“I recently moved to San Anselmo, and am so happy I “found” The Hummingbird in nearby Fairfax. It’s in a good location at 57 Broadway Blvd. with plenty of free parking across the street. I really like the New Orleans vibe at The Hummingbird. The menu includes several creole items alongside standard breakfast and lunch choices. The servers are friendly, helpful, and efficient. The food is fresh and delicious. I love their catfish po’ boy sandwich. The fried green tomato BLT is very good too. My third visit will happen next week — I’m thinking waffle & fried chicken this time . . . or maybe the fried shrimp po’ boy sandwich.”

Great blends from Napa Valley , as good as any expensive vineyard , the owner blends and creates them for years, STRONG WINE, UNBELIEVABLE TASTE! The food is amazing, I’m a New Yorker and loved it ! The gluten free pasta was done to perfection! Wished I lived closer…we would be there every week! The ambiance and staff were inviting , and the owner is a vibe unto himself! “Stillwater is one of those places that really captures the laid-back Fairfax vibe. It has a great mix of good food, drinks, and live music, which makes it more than just a typical bar or restaurant.
The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, with a nice indoor/outdoor feel. It’s a great spot to hang out with friends or enjoy a casual date night. When there’s live music, the energy is fun but not overwhelming, and you can tell it’s a local favorite.
Food and drinks have been consistently good on my visits. The menu has solid comfort-style options, and the bar makes quality cocktails. Service has also been friendly and attentive, even when it’s busy.
If you’re in Fairfax and want a place with character, music, and a good community feel, Stillwater is definitely worth a stop.”

“his is hands-down the best ice cream spot in the area. It’s a quintessential local gem—tiny, charming, and always worth the wait in line.

What sets them apart is the quality of their organic, small-batch flavors. The Vanilla Honey Lavender is an absolute must-try; you can tell they use real, high-quality lavender. Their housemade waffle cones are the best I’ve ever had—crispy, fresh, and they smell amazing from a block away.

I also love their commitment to being waste-free by using stainless bowls for those eating there. Just a heads-up for newcomers: it is cash or local check only, so come prepared! It’s the perfect place to grab a scoop and walk around town. Truly a Fairfax staple that never misses.”

“This spot is amazing!! My kids say its the best chicken strips they've ever had, and the full bento box meal is so great. The cold cucumber salad, whipped feta, and the poke bowl are my faves. But everything we've tried has been so delicious!”

“Our dog is on a special diet, rice being a main component. Through process of elimination, we discovered she loves Thai rice, tolerates some other Asian ones, and detests all others. Why fight her? We are trying a lot of Thai places to find her fav rice.

I got the fresh rolls. 5/5! So fresh and all veggies except for a very thin rice paper wrapper part way up. I’d order these every day.

My husband ordered the duck. 5/5. So flavorful, tenderly, not fatty at all. It came with a beautiful medley of fresh steamed veggies. Perfect. He’d order it again, soon.

Our dog gave the rice a 3/5. She still has her fav. But we will be back!”

“Went on a Sunday morning and even though it was busy I got through the line quickly and my drink was ready in just a few minutes. I got a black and white mocha and thought it was very sweet but in a good way. It can feel a bit cramped inside but there is plenary of outdoor seating.”
