We ordered food to go. When I picked it up, it was nicely packaged. The staff were not particularly welcoming, but since it was a to go order, it didn’t matter as much. We ordered several items and the food tasted very good. Shortly after eating though, both my partner and I developed headaches, which made us wonder whether some ingredients contained MSG. When I called the restaurant, they explained that while they do not add MSG directly, some of the ingredients they source do contain it. For anyone sensitive to MSG, this is something to be aware of. On the plus side, they were straightforward and honest when asked.

Don’t waste your money and time coming here.
Servers here don’t understand what service is here. We had 4 things on order and it took over an hour to provide us with two of our items. One of the items came out cold and the other two items “rice dishes” were not provided.
Server had a horrible attitude that is not conducive for a service business. Not even caring and walking past us multiple times. I literally has to scream to get his attention. We have 3 kids that need boosters, and it never occurred to him to offer a booster. After I got his attention you could clearly see he wasn’t bothered.
After speaking to one of the managers, we finally got their attention and proceeded to leaving with our food boxed.

I have been missing a local goto Chinese restaurant ever since ShenHua shut down on college Ave. the food is tasty and fresh. Huge assortment which could be paired down to make it easy to order. The food and service are very good while the atmosphere is very 1980s. The restaurant could be upgraded, but aside from that a great addition to Montclair

Having parents who owned Chinese restaurants and literally grown up in them, I’m happy that this place is so close to home. We’ve had take pur orders from here twice but never actually dined in. The menu is very expansive and it is authentic Chinese food. I love the Mushu dish. My partner had the honey glazed BBQ pork and Mongolian beef which he liked a lot. Hot and sour soup could use a little more spice and salt. I never get a MSG thirst or headache after eating which is super important to me.

Living in Montclair prior to the opening of 5 Spiced Kitchen, we drove all over Oakland trying out different Chinese restaurants for years. They were okay to good. Now, not only does 5SK have the best food in town, but we can walk over to their place in a matter of 2 minutes. We eat there once a week and are bringing as many friends and relatives over when possible.

I had the mongolian beef and potstickers, & they were both excellent. The beef was cooked just like I like it, medium well, lean, tender & tasty. The potstickers were excellent as well. The restaurant is well decorated chinese restaurant. I was surprised at how big it was when I got inside.

My wife and I searched for a good restaurant upon coming back from vacay. It was not easy at all. This spot does not have many reviews, but we chose it because of the pics AND the reviews were consitent in it being a great choice. We got here here about 20 or so mins to closing. We did takeout. However, we will be back to dine in.
This is THE best Chinese food that we have had since being in Berkeley. We throughly enjoyed our food and it heated up the next day just right. Oh. They have $10 happy hour every day..lol
The salt and pepper wings were delicious (1st time trying them). However, I wish more wings came for the price paid honestly.. but I'm not going to ding then in that. The BBQ pork fried rice and shrimp and broccoli were delicious. Next time, we are going to ask for garlic sauce with the shrimp and broccoli. They're food is really good and worth the money.
Everything came out hot, the staff were warm and funny. This place is so beautiful to just look at. They put effort into ensuring their restaurant was welcoming.

Restaurants need to tell you in advance that they’re going to charge a credit card fee, 2.9% in this case. Also, they calculate the tip incorrectly because it’s also on top of tax, so you end up tipping more than intended.
One of the best American Chinese restaurants I’ve had the privilege to dine at! My family was pleasantly surprised that our wonton soup came with fresh whole vegetables and large shrimp! Our waiter was also very friendly and made us laugh. 10/10 would recommend!

We ordered take out. The food was really delicious. The noodles in the Kitchen sink chow mien were cooked to chewy perfection. It was best combo chow mien we have had in a while. We will definitely be back.
