This place holds special memories for me! When I was a little girl we would come here and get the strawberry shortcake squares! I thought it was something so special. They made so many cakes for my family over the decades. I moved to Sacramento and haven't been in a long time as I haven't been to the Bay Area in a long time. I recently heard this place announced it was closing and I am heartbroken. I have such fond memories of coming here on Sundays after church. I couldn't wait to get home and eat my strawberry square! The desserts were always so delicious. The cookies and cakes so fresh and tasty.

For a recent agency event we had the 8" strawberry, red velvet and German chocolate cakes. They added our logo to the top of each cake and guests commented that all were tasty! We easily communicated with the bakery, as we ordered early and made arrangements for payment and pick-up. Very helpful along the way, from start to finish.

The cake was beautifully decorated for a celebration of life gathering. We made it the center piece of the gathering surrounded by photos. They also delivered it which was so convenient. The cake itself was a bit dry but as a center piece it looked amazing.

I did a delivery order thru Grubhub. First of all one of the items was, out of stock, no problem but then when I received the order another item was missing and a substitution was made without permission. Now to the Quality (or lack there of} the so called Morning Bun looked like nothing I'd ever seen and the taste and texture was so bad I through it away. I also ordered Lemon Bars a simple recipe, again poor taste and texture through them out. I've shopped at the Taste Of Denmark for awhile but the Quality has really gone way down. I've been coming here since I was a kid when it was Neldam's Bakery. It's always been a place where you can buy quality baked goods. My favorite is a Chantilly cake ( aka Dream Cake). It's a light whipped cream cake with chocolate flakes all over! Yum.

Last weekend I was craving some strawberry shortcake so I called right before closing to see if ToD had any slices left. They answered immediately and put two slices aside for me to come pick up. When I got there, all the staff were very attentive in making sure I was helped. Definitely going to start frequenting ToD for my cheat days. I love fresh baked goods! The strawberry shortcake was divine and everything else looked like I should have bought it.

Cashew curls. They messed up the recipe and still sold it to unsuspecting customers. I bought four bags yesterday, set aside two for a friend who has eaten them for years, same as me. Today, i opened my bag for an afternoon snack with tea and omg how awful they were. First, half as small in size, second not curled at all, and third--stale tasting. Had given another bag to a friend hyping the cookies and she had them for the first time, says they were not great either - she tossed the rest of the bag immediately. I called to talk to the manager and the person who answered the phone relayed to me that the baker had forgotten to add egg whites. Duh, didn't someone check them after they were done to make sure they looked like and tasted like the same product that they have sold in the past? She also mentioned expiration date--my package said 9/22; my friend tossed hers so fast that she couldn't retrieve to check the date. They used to be called Russian Tea cakes under the former owner, Neldam's, but were renamed to cashew curls after the employees bought it, with no change in quality. I've been going there since I was a child, over 50 years ago - this is the first time it has been so bad! While that's a good thing statistically, it didn't help my extreme disappointment today. Now that I know how bad this batch was, I am going to eat the cost for the bags I got for my friends. Horrible experience!!
One of the best bakeries in the East Bay. The cakes are so rich and delicious. My favorites are the chocolate fudge, the pineapple and lemon vanilla butter cream cakes. I highly recommend this place to anyone searching for some heavenly and decedent pastries. Go check it out, I can assure you that you'll become a life long customer.

Placed an order for a Strawberry cake Thursday to pick up Sunday afternoon for my birthday. Said it would cost extra since strawberry isn't a cake they normally have on hand (no worries). They called me early Sunday morning to say someone broke into the bakery and stole my cake haha. Interesting, because no one made mention once I came in to pick it up. I had to ask and bring it up as to why they didn't have it ready. And from the looks of some of the other reviews regarding Strawberry custom cake orders, it seems they always have issues. No shade, just wish I had got what I ordered. Not exactly buying the robbery story lol, I think they just forgot or didn't get to it soon enough. Probably won't be back, the cake was ok.

I've been coming to this bakery for over 50 years. Any special occasion we'd get a cake from Neldams which is now A Taste of Denmark. I ordered my daughter a quarter sheet of strawberries and whip cream for her birthday! Omg, didn't disappoint. They are so consistent, you know exactly what you've ordered will be delicious! I live over 40 miles away but it's totally worth the drive! Thank you A Taste of Denmark, you're a family tradition. Hopefully there are many families passing on the tradition! I know my children are.
Eric truly went above and beyond to correct a mistake made with my order. After hearing me out he actually delivered the Almond Kringle Wreath himself on the hottest day of the year and kindly called me personally with an update on the delivery, which was a gift. We heard from the recipients that the Kringle was delicious, “a 10!” Thank you, Eric!
