ACRE Kitchen & Bar does so many things right! When visiting the East Bay, ACRE has become one of our favorite ‘go to' places for meet ups and gatherings with friends. From arrival time to departure, the entire ACRE team works really well together to assure a fantastic dining experience. There were 6 of us and we began the evening with delicious shared appetizers...the butternut squash rings and the meatballs had everyone smiling with appreciation. We continued with shared pizza and a fabulous rigatoni. Our waiter, Chris, guided our selections. Superb evening! ACRE is busy and full each time we visit for good reason. The entire team works super efficiently together. Shout out to the chef, the bartender, the floor manager and all for providing such a memorable experience. Next time we are headed to Oakland, we'll plan another stop at ACRE.
The setting is nice: light and cheery, but the service was terrible (we ordered, waited, nothing came, waited more, finally asked waiter and he said he'd forgotten our order so we had to start over again, and so we waited some more . . .) I doubt this is normal, but it was annoying. The food was mediocre: for a $25 salmon and lentil salad there was a very small piece of salmon (nicely cooked) along with an overdressed, tasteless heap of salad. A disappointing lunch experience.
We had a lovely family brunch. The staff made it very easy to add one more at the last minute. We weren't rushed and the server answered all our questions about the menu. They kept track of all our special requests for sauces and dressing on the side. The pepperoni pizza with hot honey and pickled peppers was a hit with old and young alike. The omelettes were fluffy and the coffee and lattées were good also. We will definitely go back.
Several previous dinners at Acre have been wonderful, but last night was a marked contrast. We were seated at a table right next to a serving station, so that there was constant clatter of dishes and cutlery and constant motion of servers within inches of where we were seated. Service was also subpar. Again, not a typical visit to this usually excellent dining experience.
Menu is overly complicated, not enough vegetables/salads. Beet and apple salad was pitch perfect, as was the tiramisu. Other dishes were fine but not outstanding. Service is warm, welcoming and friendly but lacks finesse.
My wife and I came here for a special occasion, our second visit. The staff really made it feel special ... they were outstanding. Overall, the food was also excellent. We had the $1 happy hour oysters and hummus with pita and crudites in the downstairs bar, before they seated us in the dining room. The bread was delicious and super fresh, as was the hummus, and the oysters were a good value. For dinner, we shared and beet and apple salad, also yummy and very fresh. I had the steak frites (perfectly cooked) for my main course, and my wife had the country pate (pretty good, but probably the weakest dish). We had their excellent tiramisu for desert, and they comped us on a couple glasses of prosceco. All in all a great experience, and it's my new favorite restaurant in Oakland.
We had an excellent experience in the Cafe at Acre Restaurant & Bar. Very good customer service from our waitress & Sommelier. The Duck Leg & pizza were delicious. We'll return soon & try the upstairs seating.
We love Maddie, Kirsten, Dirk, and Michael (sommelier). The team is excellent as is the food.
Sunchoke soup marvelous looking forward to other entrees. Good wine list, beautiful setting, easy access.
Acre is a great new spot for both brunch and dinner. We've now been twice in a week, and we've had delicious meals both times. Pizzas are a hit, and we also loved the Truffle Carbonara pasta. Appreciated how the manager walked around checking on people too and ensuring everything was a great experience. Check it out!

We have been here once before but returned with an out of town guest and the four of us each had an amazing meal. We loved the ambience and the incredibly friendly and attentive wait staff. Someone who I assume was an owner or manager stopped by to make sure we were enjoying our meal. They have an elevator to the upper floor for those that may need this. The room is a bit noisy but we had a corner table and that helped but that is the only thing I can think of that could be improved. Every morsel of food was out of this world. The cocktails and wine are outstanding. And we love the desserts. We will be back again and again!
Lovely casual dining experience. Food was nice. Service was a little spotty in terms of getting the attention of the waitstaff, but really appreciated that they let us sit at the table for a long time without rousting us. A welcome midweek lunch experience. Will be back.
We were sitting next to the top of the stairs and it was quite loud with the doors open and the sounds of traffic. Other than that, the food was great.
I have been quite a few times my first for dinner. It was fabulous yet being a vegetarian I would like to see more salad and main entrees options.
Acre is always excellent! Our go-to place with out of town guests and family gatherings. Fried Olives the best start to a wonderful meal both at lunch and dinner
