As a new comer to east bay, I have been exploring Ethiopian restaurants and Addis is by far the best. Good vibe, good food (the best shiro), awesome service. My only suggestion is that they need to come up ways to pack the stews, soecially shiro, in small container by itself when it is ordered for to go.

A friend of mine was harassed by a group of men at this restaurant unprompted and the manager made dumb excuses for the behavior of these men instead of apologizing. This is absolutely ridiculous and unbelievable. Do not come here.

Injera is very thick not well made, all fair was without Ethiopian food skill only had with berry and a lot of flower oil, price is very high, I will never go there again. The coffee service for 25 dollars is way too much expensive.

So good! I’ve been to a few Ethiopian locations in Oakland and Berkeley and all are delicious but I loved the service and atmosphere here along with the flavorful and filling meal. Splitting the combination plate between two hungry people was not only plenty of food, but a wonderful about of variety. We had leftovers and they tasted great the following days too.

Loved this place and I’ll be back! ???

The worst injera I ever had!

The quality of the food has declined, and the prices have increased while the portion sizes have decreased. Don't be fooled by the 4-star reviews, as they are from the previous owners.

This is such an outstanding restaurant — the food is delicious (such spongy, perfect injera) and the staff are lovely. We celebrated a birthday here yesterday evening and they very kindly stored a dessert for us beforehand. We had a wonderful time. Highly recommend!!

I love Ethiopian food, and there are so many wonderful Ethiopian restaurants in Oakland but I always come back here. I love their food and ambiance and warm service. I always recommend this place and it never disappoints.

Enjoyed the vegetarian combo with the super soft injeras. Really enjoyed the vegetarian Fasolia dish -- tasty and fresh. Great food - but priced high.

Food

The food was ok. I really liked the carnage and greens. My daughter likes the salad. We got the veggie and meat combo, which was plentiful. It had a spicy beef, a beef stew, and Doro wot. We were given 1 egg for 3 people. I felt one of the beef dishes were overcooked. My daughter felt the chicken was dry. The injera was different from what we had at other ethiopian restaurants, but it was still tasty. My other daughter liked it all, so we are mixed in our opinions. All agreed that we would not go back.

Now let me say this, we are not saying that the food is bad. That is not the case. It was just different from what we're used to eating. Not all ethiopian places are going to prepare their food the same way. So this is not a negative review about the food... it just wasn't for us.

Service, we were warmly greeted. Seated and our orders were taken. The server was very attentive, and it was a nice experience.

Atmosphere, this is a very nice place to come for cocktail or happy hour if you live in the area. They have a well stocked bar. The restaurant is open and inviting.
