The food was SO GOOD, we had the red snapper and had to order another one because it was that good. The camaron was absolutely delicious and insanely flavorful, same with the half chicken. The service was amazing, it seemed like the servers knew exactly when to come and when we needed something. It’s such a cute spot and beautifully authentic. Absolutely loved this place, and hope K can visit again.
Enjoyed everything I ate! Only problem is that they were out of a few off the dishes by 8pm. Would definitely be back!
I was out in the east bay today! I tried @alamaroakland #dominicanfoodoakland I have been waiting for the WEST COAST/ bayarea to have flavors other than Mexican food! No offense to Mexican food! But being from Central America you crave that Caribbean flavor!! Plátano maduro, mondongo, ect. Today I tried the #theNewdominican it’s braised oxtail, pork pernil, butter pickles, Swiss cheese, sofrito lime mayo on a nisi Philly roll crispy to perfection! With two big tostones on the side! It has #flavor, it’s #delicious the meat omg to die for! bold, comforting, and full of soul—it hits you with deep, layered flavors that come from a rich blend of African, Spanish, and Taino (indigenous) influences If you live in the Bay Area and want DOMINICAN Food it’s here! Try it out!! I’m excited to go back and try their dinner portion!!

I came in during lunch time the server was amazing went over the menu with him! The portions are perfect not to over the top enough for you to be full and have some left over! Ambiance inside gorgeous it reminds me of NY the place is located in a good area of Oakland and I know they have days when they have LIVE music and I will go back to experience that!!
Awesome place, first time having Dominican, food was delicious and not a bad item on the menu. Unfortunately they were out of the chicharron el pollo during my visit. Still highly recommend!
Goat plate with fried plantain was tasty, cooked well, and a good amount for lunch. Plenty of seating during lunch and food was quick to come out.
The staff was friendly and attentive as we were attending their 11th anniversary celebration and our group was performing as entertainment plus my friends and I hadn't gone out together since last year so it was fun and festive. The food we shared was delicious
Great food! Great music!
Excellent vibes!
alaMar is The Spot! 🙌🙌
Visited alaMar Dominican Kitchen on 4/25/25 with a colleague and had a great time! The food was delicious — every bite packed with authentic flavor. The yellow rice was perfectly cooked, the fried plantains were crispy on the outside and sweet inside, and the meat was tender with a vibrant chimichurri-style sauce. The beans and fresh slaw rounded everything out beautifully.
The ambiance was super fun and vibey, with great music and a lively but relaxed energy that made the experience even better. You can tell a lot of care goes into both the food and the atmosphere here. Definitely a must-visit spot if you’re in Oakland looking for bold, soulful Dominican flavors. I’ll absolutely be coming back, thank you alaMar!
A lifelong fan of this restaurant! A beautiful meal and experience to be had at Alamar every time.
The fired chicken and oxtails are top tier. I'm a regular here and can't recommend them enough.

Terrific food and service. Friday night crowd with music made it pretty ambience but loud.
The food was DELICIOUS, & the atmosphere is nice & lively! I've already made another reservation to return & my mouth & tummy can't wait!
Haven’t had Caribbean food since I left the east coast and this reminds me of home and DR. The Moro reminds me of my moms a bit. My gf got the pernil which she liked, and I got the red snapper. I was shocked how huge the fish was and wonder if they serve all of them that big lol. I have a big appetite so I finished it (barely) but definitely a dish you could share between 2 people. The maduros were good too with this sauce they put on it. And tostones are always good. Love to see Dominicans, Puerto Ricans and other Caribbeans on this coast too not just the northeast or Florida. You can probably get free parking depending the time or day you come here, because we got lucky and came on a Thursday around 7-8p. But I would definitely go back when I crave Dominican food.
I liked the atmosphere and the food. Good Hispanic music in the background and the food was delicious. We ordered a few dishes that typically Dominican and they were right on the spot. Not all dishes are necessarily Dominican but you can get some of them here. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Came here for a birthday dinner and had such a great time. The food was amazing and our server was so attentive and friendly. The Dominican Salad is so refreshing and pairs perfectly with some tostones on the side. The Dominican Garlic Udon Noodles were some of the best garlic noodles I've ever had. They were so warm and comforting. The chewy texture of the noodles coupled with the flavorful sofrito butter and tomatoes was just perfection. While I didn't drink, people our group did and they really enjoyed the cocktails. Definitely worth checking out!
