Great atmosphere! Visited for an open mic night. Staff was super friendly and the vibe was perfect.

Great place to work, but the music is widely varied and often distracting bring headphones and you should be fine

Great coffee, good service. I like to come here in the morning and get an hour of work done on my laptop while enjoying coffee and a snack. I like the funky mix of solid wood chairs & tables. I can usually find a comfortable spot and get some work done. The music is an eclectic mix, but generally friendly to concentration and upbeat. I see plenty of folks use this as a work meeting space, too. Unpretentious and casual.

My favorite neighborhood coffee shop to get work done or just hang with a friend or a book. Coffee and food at a reasonable price with plenty of table space you never have a problem finding a spot to sit. They also have a handful of tables on the street outside if you’d rather take in the sights on Temescal. The beer on tap ($6/pint) plus a fair selection of board games make this a great spot for an afternoon beverage as well. My only complaint would be the 7pm closing time is a bit early especially since they do serve beer. The music can also be a little loud for reading but nothing headphones can’t fix I suppose. Overall a true Temescal gem with unbeatable vibes.

Pretty decent coffee shop on Telegram close To downtown Oakland. Free WiFi and they are open later compare to most of the coffee shops in the area. A lot of space and plenty of seating.all the options for coffee, I had tea so I am not sure how is their coffee but their tea was pretty decent. They have few street paid parking spots in from of the store which is always nice. The seats and chairs and tables are pretty old and worn out but I guess it gives it an Oakland local feel.

This place gets worse with every visit. It is a true shame that Oakland does not have more spaces to work. Don't waste your time or money here.

I like the coffee and staff just fine. But numerous times been very uncomfortable with the hygiene of different homeless that come into the cafe. I'm sorry, I don't want eat next to a person who smells like urine or s**** Seems like a cholera or typhoid outbreak might be on the horizon for Hawk and Pony. Take your sanitizing wipes!

Even tho it was still technically at a breakfast hour they made me a beet and arugula salad that was to die for and a mini egg sandwich....their food is completely budget friendly while being wholesome and gourmet all at the same time with a rugged, alternative, bohemian yet totally spacious, comfy and peacefull ambience....we'd go there everyday...great employees too, artsy and cool.

I like the current iteration of this coffeeshop. Great vegan sandwich options, good drinks (caffeinated, non-caffeinated, and beer), fair prices. This is my new favorite neighborhood coffeeshop to hang out at and get work done.

Love coming here for writing, reading and studying. Place is big and spacious

Fine quiet place to work/computer although stuffy air inside. For what it is the food is way over priced.

Perfect in every way. Friendly staff. Good coffee. Good pastries. Good music. Good vibes.

Pros: ample, comfortable seating inside and out stellar customer service tasty coffee and beer lots of natural light and good community vibes free wifi, bathroom, and fresh water some outlets available for charging your devices Cons: the pastries aren't enjoyable; I'll be bringing my own snacks and a sweater (it gets chilly indoors, even on warm days)

The Hawk and pony: it's a pretty good place for a casual meeting. Or a lengthy study. In a public space. It is a very laid-back café atmosphere. They variety of teas. They have a few food offerings, but nothing too spectacular. And that's a good thing, as they don't have some expensive menu that they can't maintain. This is not the place to go to if you're hungry. However, if you want a late breakfast. Or some tea or coffee during a casual meeting it's perfect. they have Internet.
