This place is terrible. $26 for a completely unseasoned and unremarkable burger that has the consistency of a hockey puck on a stale bun, and for some reason it's 30 minutes from order to table. They also served it to me to go even though I didn't order it as such, and took over 20 minutes to deliver our milkshake.
1/10, do not recommend.
Barney’s is what it is. It’s a Bay Area institution. The burgers are reliably good. The sides are good, but also be aware that sides are separate. If you order a burger, fries, and a drink, you’ll be close or over $30. Not unreasonable for Piedmont Avenue, but I know plenty of people that are frustrated at the idea of buying fries on principle, so beware if that’s how you feel. Atmosphere is the worst part because 1. There’s often a faint stickiness to tables, 2. I’ve always seen at least one fly buzzing around (typically near the window seats), 3. Acoustics suck.
Burgers and fries were yummy. Chili dog with curly fries was very good. They have shakes too.
Barney's always hits the spot. Very eager to please and accommodate your tastes and needs. Everything I have tried—items I know I would like if I made them myself— are always great.
It’s hard to describe the feeling going into this restaurant. In fact, I would say it almost felt like home. The staff were so kind and it look like I as a customer was meaningful to them personally. I enjoyed seeing the sociable aspects of the staff’s lives, it almost felt like I was in the kitchen, cooking alongside them. I highly recommend ordering at least one of their milkshakes, if not a second or third side from the audacious flavor of the milkshake and rich creaminess they also gave me heaping amounts of milkshake. I would love to see where this restaurant takes itself in the future, and I would be ashamed if it weren’t successful anymore.
Overpriced cafeteria food. The service was good. The place was clean. It’s just that the fries were lukewarm and the chicken taste like it was precooked, frozen then thawed for my meal. Not the most egregious thing in the world. I’d just rather not pay $20 for generic Food Co. food.
I've been going here for years. Really delicious and great staff, my go to is a voo doo burger and curley seasoned fries with ranch
Great for a quick bite and decent portion sizes.
Custom burgers encouraged, and the gnarliest onion rings in the WORLD! Get a cheese burger with one donut sized onion ring in it wl BBQ sauce. Have them cut it in half so you can take the other half home to enjoy the next day...
I like my burgers medium rare and the last two times I've been here they cooked the hamburger patty well done to the point of ruin. I would have returned it, but was in a hurry. Since it's priced for perfection I hope they get a handle on the issue asap.

Killer food, amazing portions + shakes! (love that you get the extra). Truly worth it, best burger joint around.
The worst Chinese chicken salad ever. All cabbage and chicken. No carrots, no scallions, no red cabbage. Hardly any sesame seeds or crunchy noodles. For $22.00 this crap.
Service was good. Food was bad, and they nickel and dime for everything. I asked for a burger with seasoning (I stressed I didn’t want just an unseasoned patty). They charged $1.50 to add seasoning and it was still hella bland. Tasted like hospital food. Food is already expensive too. The employees were wonderful, but go to bongo burger for a burger that’s cheaper and tasty.
Always great food and friendly service. We love sitting outside on the back patio when weather permits.
Excellent food and a great experience!
