If you're into variety and combinations you might not have considered this is definitely a good pick. Solid burger. Huge selection size. And even more importantly the curly fries were some of the best I've had in the bay

We enjoyed yummy crispy chicken burgers, mac & cheese, french fry onion rings. Nice outdoor green garden sitting.

Barney’s is an old landmark for me. I have not been there in many years. Decided to try the Barney’s on College Street. I normally go to the one in Piedmont. I ordered a Greek salad i with fried veggies. My bill was $32 which I thought was ridiculous. The salad was very Hardy but the taste didn’t have the same substance it used to have years ago. The place was very neat. Very cute. The employees were very kind. The prices were just too high and the food didn’t taste that good. The fried veggies were really greasy. I didn’t take a photo of the veggies.

We came here because of the famous food. Our burgers didn't really taste like anything. Fries and shakes were ok.

Ordered Alpine Burger that has grilled onions and mushrooms. It was so oily, I could have fried a whole chicken!

I went to this location with a friend for late lunch. I ordered a burger with cheese, sautéed mushrooms and onion. I asked it medium-well, which was a mistake on my side because I wanted it cooked medium. But what came out was well done. Meat was very hard and tasteless. Mushrooms and onion didn't have much flavor either. Only part I liked was a sesame bun. My friend ordered curly fries. It came out almost cold. It wasn't freshly made. It was not tasty. My friend said chicken tenders didn't taste much. We ended up paying $40+ for the meals that we didn't enjoy at all.

Incredible spot in Berkeley!

PRICE ?: Burgers and sandwiches seem a bit pricey, at $20+ each, but the portions make it incredibly worth it!

FOOD ?: The Carolina Crispy Chicken Sandwich was hot hot hot! The size of the tenders left me with a full sandwich and two pieces leftover. The seasoning is rich and spicy—totally recommend! The other star of the show is their shoestring curly fries. Order a side (one tall cup) for the table!

LOCATION ?: There’s multiple Barney’s in Berkeley, and all seem to be great choices. This specific location on College Ave doesn’t have a ton of parking nearby, so consider taking a bike or bus. Enjoy walking up and down College Ave after and grabbing dessert from one of the many places nearby!

By far the best bang for your buck in the East Bay when it comes to salads. While every food place nowadays is charging more and more for smaller portions, Barney's gives you the quality, quantity, and service for a good price. Never had a bad meal at Barney's.

Yeah, $20+ for a burger is a bit steep, but overall I was happy with the flavor, quality, and service for Barney’s.This place is a cute local joint (now with several Bay locations) on the charming College Ave in Rockridge. They advertise as gourmet burgers, and they definitely are — but with all the possible toppings, be prepared to pay quite a bit for each add-on you’re interested in.I ordered the Moroccan Burger (with sprouts) and the skinny fries, to-go. They prepped my food quickly and it gave me a few minutes to walk around the area and check out the cute cafes. It’s a short walk from the BART station, but there’s also plenty of parking on College Ave (I had no problem parking).I’d definitely recommend the pretzel bun, as the soft and salty flavor added a unique twist to the burgers. The meat was tasty and you can specify if you want medium rare, medium, or well-done. I also liked how the toppings were overflowing — you might have to pay $3.50 to add something like crispy onions to your burger, but for that price they’ll make sure you get more than enough to fill your burger (and plate!).Overall, it’s a nice choice for a casual burger in Rockridge.

Parking: Plenty of street parking on College Ave.

We loved this place for an easy, no fuss lunch. The burgers are nice but perhaps not as elaborate as other 'gourmet' places. We loved the truffle fries and would always them along with one of the speciality shakes

So it’s not the most affordable burger joint in town, but it’s good and the portions are huge! I should’ve opted for the single serving of curly fries to share, they were great though. Ranch was homemade and delicious, lots of dill. The Chinese chicken salad was huge! Lots of chicken and fresh Napa cabbage finely chopped which I love. Could’ve used a little more flavor in the dressing, the one they used was on the sweeter side. Aside from that, really good! The Turkish coffee milkshake was incredible, not too sweet but really creamy and a lot of it. My husband had the gastro burger which he enjoyed but thought the chips were a little weird on top. Overall, we enjoyed it! Service was great and super fast. Food wasn’t anything life changing but it was good for the amount that as provided.

Not a bad spot, but the burgers for the cost and being advertised as 'gourmet' have been pretty lackluster. The maui burger just tasted like they slapped on a canned pineapple slice and covered it in teriyaki sauce. The curly fries were minimally seasoned. The spicy chicken burger wasn't very spice nor flavorful. The online menu has now increased in person and the cost for the food quality seems unreasonable. The location itself is nice, clean and staff was good!
