We stopped by for lunch during a road trip. Had mixed feelings when I read the reviews. I must say I have to question the one star reviews. The food was actually good. I had the oxtail which were really tasty along with the greens and Mac. I would definitely come back.

I cook and I know what yesterday food looks like that Mac n cheese had no cheese the turkey chops barely had meat on emthe gravy was smacking the cornbread was hard and dry….. whoever made that mac tho u don’t know what u are doing
Update - Breakfast: It was weird, but I still liked it! The French toast was just toast with very little French (egg custard); somehow, it was still good. The eggs were seasoned perfectly. The sausage was fried perfectly. However, half the bacon was stuck together & under cooked. And they forgot my MF-ing grits. I almost limped down there to fight somebody, but I was placated by the breakfast potatoes which *looked* under seasoned but still tasted good.
Dinner: I really enjoyed my order! The chicken wings were good; I like them fried a tiny bit harder but that might have been a consequence of the condensation in the to-go box. The yams were good and hit the spot; I don’t have a refined enough palate to determine if they were canned or made fresh, but I loved every bite. The greens and the cornbread were the surprise hit; these were the best I’ve had out here - now, that bar is low, but the food was legitimately good.
I wound up ordering because I was craving grits. They put too much something in the grits. I don’t think it’s too much cheese, which another review assumed. I think it’s too much butter. They weren’t terrible; they just didn’t hit the spot.
The Mac & cheese was actively not good. No flavor at all. It tasted like what I would imagine hippie, west coast Mac & cheese would taste like.
Overall, I’m a fan and will be returning to try out breakfast.
Yams was old didnt have the right stuff in them .Shrimp and grits was like water down

These are very nice men that run this place. I ordered salmon croquettes, grits and eggs. I was surprised to not get toast with my breakfast, but I told myself that I didn’t need it anyway. The food was delicious but the croquettes were kinda cold in the middle. I ate it anyway. I ordered a salad to go but some of the baby spinach leaves look old and wilted and some wet. I would never serve anyone that for $8 and I ate the tomatoes and cucumbers and threw the rest away. Oh well, lesson learned. I would still encourage others to support this business.

Super nice owner and staff. Southern soul food breakfast, lunch, and dinner served all day. Best oxtails, hands-down! The chef is from New Orleans and the food is authentic - I'm coming back to try everything on the menu! ??

I try not to leave unbiased opinions but I have mixed feelings about this place. The service, the food is awesome. Top notch without a doubt. My wish is that they took a little bit more pride in cleaning regularly... everything is covered in grease ans oil residue. In addition there's random stuff everywhere . I found it odd where he pulled the utensils from ... I love supporting black owned businesses but they need to get there s#it together! I saw him dip his fingers in the gravy and that's not okayTo each it's own.
