Very clean and friendly environment. The food was incredibly tasty. The mint and sesame chicken was amazing and the braised beef in the curry was super tender. The only “problem” is that it is a little pricey, but the quality makes up for it!

I definitely felt like a star at Burma Superstar. First of all shout out to the young brown skin man with braids working the front door and Torrey I think it was working the bar. I had called in a to go order. Torrey was friendly easy to understand and accurate with wait times. The young man at the door offered me a seat and water while waiting. I had salt n pepper calamari and salt n pepper chicken. The food was delicious and portions are generous. Definitely enough for 4 people. The calamari was cut perfectly in bite sized squares with a nice crisp on the batter. I like how the chicken was shredded before fried in bite sized pieces. Nice cozy restaurant with full bar and outside seating. I will definitely be back to explore the menu and cocktails.

Vegetarian options: Chicken curry or beef lamb curry were our favorites. These meals are somewhat to share in a group.

Food is amazing! It's a mixture of Thai food with the sweet flavors and Indian food with the curries and stews. The service is stellar but the restaurant is small and closes in the middle of the day and gets packed fast. I'm glad they added the additional seating outside and to go. My favorite is the coconut rice with the mint chicken and tea leaf salad. I highly recommend them. I take everyone I know there and not one person hasn't liked it yet!

Simply an explosion of flavors, fantastic and unique menu. A wonderful experience. For mandatory in SF. The salad is magnificent and the coconut rice is delicious. Tables in a sheltered indoor and outdoor environment.

The tea leaf salad is next level but almost every dish is packed with flavor and deliciousness. Also enjoyed the Chicken w/ mint. My 11 month old daughter smashed the broccoli which I never did as a kid, lol.

I ordered Shan noodles and Mango tamarind spritzer. Noodles were absolutely delicious. Will highly recommend ordering these and the drink was so refreshing on a hot day.

This review is for gluten free customers: there is a a lot of safety and trust felt when you see so many GF symbols on the menu. Unfortunately, I immediately got sick after eating here, so there is likely cross contamination or a lack of understanding of ingredients. The waiter mentioned “fish sauce” many times, which is typically not gluten free. She clarified that it would be GF and I trusted her. My mistake. Won’t come back for this reason.

The Oakland location has lots of available parking on the street in close proximity to the restaurant, especially if you go at 11:30 for lunch.
You will get a strong whiff of all those seasonings cooking as you approach, in my book this always means good food will follow.
They have a nice area for outside seating, but be careful of the bike lane, make sure you look before you cross into the restaurant or you might walk right into a 10 speed!
The staff was very accommodating to my cousin with a wheelchair, they easily moved seating to ensure she had adequate space and was comfortable. I didn’t need to taste the food after this display of kindness, I knew I was in good culinary hands!
The bathrooms are clean with a hint of cleaning product in the air, they are also spacious and pleasant even though they are unisex because I am not a fan of sharing restrooms with men. So yes, it is safe to use the bathroom here!
The decor of the space has a family friendly feeling, with artwork that reminds you a trip to Burma should be on your travel bucket list!
The menu has several selections but it’s not overwhelming, and accommodates all preferred diets. Vegetarians, and vegans this is a haven for you, lots of fruits and vegetables in these dishes, so please don’t shy away!
I like restaurants that take a break between lunch and dinner, they usually do an extra bit of cleaning in my opinion. They close for lunch at 2:30 and open for dinner at 5pm during the week. This place gets packed, so plan to go early, and they only take reservations for parties of 8 or more!
The food is eye appealing, you can taste the dish before you have your first bite, I love a beautifully displayed plate!
If you find yourself in Oakland, I highly recommend grabbing a meal at Burma Superstar, have the Tea Leaf Salad, Egg Curry With Okra, and Coconut Rice. Sip a hot Fresh Ginger Honey Tea, while you enjoy the loving energy and artwork that make the setting as unique as the food!
