The food and cocktails have unfortunately gone downhill at this classic Oakland spot. Our server/bartender at the bar was great, but my first cocktail tasted like perfume, super strong in flavor and sweet, not balanced. He was very quick to replace it and super nice about it. We had steak frites, mussels, and burrata salad. Everything was just ok.
The fries on the steak frites seemed like the bottom of the batch, they weren't hot and seemed like they were fired in a large amount and left to sit too long before sending out.
Mussels were the only thing that seemed seasoned and prepared as intended.
The burrata was extremely simple as burrata dishes often are, but still under seasoned.

The service and ambiance were both excellent, attentive staff and a lovely setting. However, I found the food underwhelming. From the pork belly appetizer to the melon salad, French fries, mussels and pork chop, none of the dishes really stood out. Pretty disappointing

This is a very nice lovely restaurant. The only problem is this girl who works there. This bussgirl. God have mercy! Please provide her with a deodorant! It's honestly very unpleasant to have her near by! Mainly when the weather gets hot. I mean no need to wear perfume but deodorant please! Make your servers wear deodorant!!!! It's just way too much! 🤢

I had a fantastic dinner at this place. The food was prepared in a way that made me feel like I had my own personal chef. There were many flavors to discover, each offering a delightful experience for the taste buds. Everyone greeted me with a smile, making it feel as if we were old friends catching up after a long time apart. My date and I were thoroughly impressed by the ambiance and the lively neighborhood outside. I’ll definitely return to enjoy more of this delicious food!

They broke a glass of red wine when we sat at the bar splattering my white shirt, and only wiped up the glass. Bad form. Food OK but not special.

Dietary restrictions: Nothing is labeled for Glutens. A vegetarian could get a meal here, vegan would find it hard.

Parking: There is parking to be found, but a lot of it is neighborhood parking so it could become a challenge.

Kid-friendliness: If you were to get there at kid hours, you could probably sit outside with your kiddo. The menu doesnt seem to have much kids would be interested in. However in my experience, where there is pasta, restaurants will usually always make kids off menu butter noodles, if asked.

After having read reviews below, I just realized they already added tip to my bill without telling me, thereby getting an additional tip. This should actually be considered criminal. Outrageous.

Let's talk about the wine service. I brought a $200 bottle of Pinot noir. They opened it away from the table for some reason. They came back, and in front of my date, made a face and said the cork was moldy, as though the wine had gone bad or something. (For people who know wine, a cork will get moldy in a cellar due to humidity and dark conditions). Let's move past the unnecessary embarrassment in front of my date, the wine then tasted off. Mold often grows on properly stored bottles, and is not known to effect the flavor at all. I consulted a Facebook of wine industry and hospitality professionals, suggested the possibility that it was just an off bottle, and everyone seems to agree that the more likely scenario is exactly what I suspected and feared, that my bottle may have been switched out for a cheaper bottle so that they could enjoy my bottle after service. Indeed it is very coincidental that I've never ever had this happen before, and it happened to happen the one time my wine was opened not in my presence (one hospitality industry member on Facebook advised that it was highly unusual that they would not open the bottle table side, for this very reason).
