This place is a little hidden gem! There are several Ethiopian restaurants in Oakland, many are very well known. Cafe Dareye gives them all a run for their money. A friend I and had just finished smashing things at Smash Kingdom a few sores down the block and were starving. We walked by Cafe Dareye and that wonderful smell of Ethiopian spices drew us in. It’s a very small space. We shared a 1/2 veggie combo platter and a Beef Tibs platter with Ethiopian spiced tea. It all hit the spot. It was very delicious and did not disappoint! There was only one person working and she balanced cooking taking, orders, serving our food, along with cooking for several take out customers with no delay and prompt friendly service. I would definitely go back there to eat and even order take out from there.
