Very chill place. Food is pretty affordable and has better taste than I would expect for a "by the slice" place.

The owner is great guy and goes out of his way to make it a great dining experience, but when he is not working the vibe is different and the "manger" can be a little snobbish it feels totally different. I only dine in when the owner is around. The food is good but a little high on the $

Food is pretty good but the service left a horrible impression. Wish I could take back my tip. We visited this restaurant expecting a casual dining experience, similar to what you'd find in a bakery or café, where you order at the counter and you can choose to sit down at one of the tables with your food or grab and go. The setup seemed to support this, with a cashier at the front, a menu displayed prominently on the main wall, and no server in sight. Plus, the pizza was already made and on display to grab and go. Upon ordering, we noticed several empty tables and decided to sit down to quickly try a bite before the drive home. However, we were quickly approached by one of the cooks (or hidden kitchen staff?), who informed us that the tables were reserved for dine-in customers only and asked us to leave. This was confusing, as it was not apparent that they offered a full dine-in option without a waiter around, and the restaurant was not busy at the time. Plus, how would one fully dine-in if the food isn't even made to order? I would have the cashier (again, there's no waiter) bring me my plate instead of me picking it up from the cashier four steps away after just ordering from them? The enforcement of this policy felt unnecessarily strict and absurd and made for a very unwelcoming and upsetting experience. Although some of the pizza was good, it was difficult to fully enjoy it when we were practically kicked out.

Good pizza and salad for a reasonable price. The food itself is 5 stars. The produced are picked with care and it truly felt like eating in Italy - food wise-. The atmosphere inside was nice and I loved that they also offer a couple of outdoor seating. Now the service.... This is a tip on the iPad before you eat place and tipping starts at 18%. I also wan to say that the staff looked very young and they were very nice, perhaps their 1st job. My complaints however is that 1. Our party of 3 seated outside and waited for what seemed forever before one of us went in and we realized we had to order inside, the waiter saw us and walked by us but never said anything. 2. We also had to go and ask for silverware, the waiter brought our food but never brought the forks. 3. The water fountain was empty and stayed empty during our lunch and we were not given cups for our drinks (cans of San Pellegrino). There are also no Parmesan cheese or high chairs, just FYI.

Dropped in during an unexpected encounter - I was drawn in from the sidewalk and wanted to know more. I liked the interior a lot - it was bright, clean, open, the walls were adorned with various photographs, from the tables, chairs, lighting fixtures, to the way the condiments were placed out on the tables, everything carried my eyes to wander and admire. I entered during a time when there was only one other person waiting for a to-go order. The guy who was working was nice - especially when I kept asking questions. All of the food looked great, well-stocked, and the display they had showing its name was well read. There was a lot I wanted to try, but I limited myself to two slices of their pizzas. - Capricciosa $7 (one of their most popular ones - mushrooms, olives, artichoke, mozzarella, and ham) - San Daniele $7.50 (this might be a seasonal one as its not listed on their website - had prosciutto and arugula) Checking in on the Yelp app, I received a free piece of their focaccia bread which he cut in two pieces for me. I would love to come back here for their aperitivo (happy hour) which is held from 4-6:30pm. I find that this place is great for a quick bite, grab n' go, and dining in for the cool atmosphere. There are a few two person tables which could be combined together for a larger group and a few bar tables along the wall which is good for two people, along with a few cute tables for outside dining which I'd love to see more of in the state of California. The food tasted amazing! Shared and eaten once I arrived home. I wish I had gotten more to try!

Straight up the only focacceria we've ever been to--they just do focaccia and it's so bomb. This place is like an adorable coffee shop, but instead of coffee and pasteurize, they give you lil square pieces of pizza-esque heaven. Nice staff, great ambiance...what more could you want?

Delicious pasta dishes! As good as any pasta anywhere! NOT CHEAP. I treat myself when I get tired of my own home made pasta dishes. The lasagna and the parpadelle are my favorites!

Casual and friendly ambiance! I stopped by here on a weekday lunch to pick up focaccia pizza for my family. We followed the instructions for reheating, and the focaccia turned out to be fresh! Not a pizza or a focaccia person, but was highly approved by my family who loved the Capricciosa and Spicy Sopressata pizza, and the Zucchini Pesto Focaccia. I LOVED the Farinata and the supplì. Will definitely stop by again when I'm in the area to try more Farinata and their other specialities.

Wow. The food is absolutely delightful. I told my partner that I felt sorry for anyone who didn't have lunch here today. Amazing food. After we shared a slice and a sandwich, we ordered one more to go because it's that delicious. Highly recommend. I'll be back.

The food was delicious and reminded me of when I was back in Italy in the middle of the day enjoying everything the country had to offer. This really took me back to that time as the food displayed is exactly like in Roma and tastes exactly the same as it did there. I was planning to go back to Italy because of how much I missed the food but this place may have just saved me a plane ticket. The service was great and they were very nice and accommodating. The interior would transport you back to that time as well. One of the best Italian restaurants I've been to in a while. Grazie!

Friendly service and ambiance, and fenomenal food. Everything from Lasagna, Parmigiana, and pizza rossa was incredible. This is a must in Berkeley.
